24-Dec-21 took off the reverb, panned instruments to open up the middle, adjusted 250-500 hz vox buss hoping to clarify vox.
23-Dec-21 updated mix to bring vox out more.
21-Dec-21 rerecorded this morning. Added Ms Mills piano, drums and a synth effect. Ventured into new territory with the progression.

This has an old-timey folk music vibe - me likey. The lead guitar is quite loud and overpowers. Maybe cut the rhythm guitar also - just a couple dB.
 
I could hear the New Christy Minstrels doing this one circa 1963.
 
Feels like a chorus with a hint of a bridge or outro. Most of it could be the chorus in the body of a song, then as a long outro for the last 30-60 seconds for an audience sing-a-long.
 
Yeah, thanks man, I thought so too as a chorus is usually the first thing I come up with.
 
Me too. Start with a hook / chorus and build out from there. Usually.. not a fast rule. Sometimes the verse dictates. I don't hear much newer music built around a good hook anymore, many songs are just the same from start to finish.
 
Dec 21 MIX sounds a bit Christmas-y. I can almost hear sleigh bells jingling.. :-)
 
I can't make out the vocals. Sounds like they are in the background (reverb?). Turn down the piano a little, it's over powers the vocal.
 
Much better and more balanced. The vocals come through better and are not stepped on. I like it.

As for me, I almost always start with the verse rather than the chorus.
 
i know you've adjusted levels, but i can't make out any of the vocal lines...? there's a lot of low mids in them, i think, and they are unclear to me. or i'm just getting old. could be that. :) rest of the tracks sound great

24 Dec 21 - Closer to the original in overall sound/feel. Now it sounds like an INTRO and a BRIDGE.
