Talking heads or what? I didn't mind the 3 way discussion (though the mics didn't do a good job) and the balance of enthusuastic bloke, understated bloke and I don't speak much unless asked to bloke was interesting.
As for the amp...It needed to be cranked as the understated bloke understated.

I listen to loads of stuff at work, so I just have it on in the background as a distraction.

I turned it off after those three bumbling idiots questioned whether or not "we need 50 watts".

haha, not surprised that you wouldn't approve of that!

I'll finish watching it later. I actually like Ben. But today is July 4th. In the USA this is fuck-off-england day. It's my national duty to not indulge or oblige dumb limeys today.:D

Hmmmm, you don't seem capable of governing yourselves. Maybe you should hold a referendum and come back

I'm celebrating the 4th of July in retail store tradition. I'm working....just like every other damn holiday.

At least I'm getting off 1/2 the day. I'm going to do some more work on....

THE FIRST SONG I PLAYED DRUMS ALL THE WAY THROUGH ON WITHOUT FUCKING UP TOO BAD!!!!
I'm excited. That is a giant milestone for me.
:)

Crimson reviewing a Marshall head.

I made it through about 4 minutes & had to turn the video off....These guys might know how to build guitars, but they don't know shit about amps IMO...I first thought they had done massive amounts of hard drugs & it caused brain damage...But I've done massive amounts of drugs myself & it never affected me, so I dunno about those guys....:laughings:

Greg, thanks for the lowdown on the bright cap. Just realized I never stopped back by to say thanks...

And I'm having a unique 4th. We just adopted another dog from a rescue place today. He's a freaking mammoth standard poodle. Absolutely giant. Our other poodle is crazy jealous.

Going to join in the annual neighborhood fire hazard show after dark and get all explody. Gonna have a cigar (gotta have a punk for the fuses and all) and a few drinks. Should be fun.

They're funny - they do the most detailed knowledgeable videos about guitar building - they'll spend half an hour in a video talking about installing volume pots - but they don't really know that much about playing. I've not met the guy sitting on the right, but the young guy on the left is a great player.

Bumping this back up guys....here's a toan from the EVH rig....

Trem Guitar

There are fx on this, a tremolo pedal, & some 'verb (both are vst's added in the daw), but I didn't doctor anything else....

This is about as clean as this amp will get without the volume rolled off on the guitar...:D

Oooh ick. Not good.*

* I don't mean that tone itself though I don't particularly care for it. If that's as clean as it gets you are severely limited.

This is the first thing that sprang to mind for me too, Miner. I still haven't managed to try an EVH to see how it goes with my guitar, I still will though.

On the tone itself... I'm not a fan of the tremelo - but then I'm not a fan of Tremelo in general, feels like there's just a constant noise in the background that I didn't like... sounds a bit like Oasis too!

Wow, that's pretty dirty for as clean as it will go.

I don't hate it though. I like it. I like the trem. Seems fine to me. I'd like to hear you try to get really clean out of it, if that's even possible. Try it with the vol rolled back on the guitar. It might not be able to happen.

Thanks guys, I looked at my amp when I rolled over this morning, & I told you guys wrong on the gain, it was set at 1.5 - 1.75 or so. Typo on my end, sorry 'bout that...:o

I'll make another clip or two today, the amp can do fairly clean but I have to really ease the gain knob up, as the slightest turn makes a difference. All the amp's knobs are like that, very sensitive, & you can actually hear a change in the sound when you turn 'em....

The more I play through this thing, the more I like it. It reminds me of a blend between the Chupa & DSL, if that makes any sense to you guys. It's got that biting mid to high end that can get fizzy if you're not careful with the treble/presence knobs...

I didn't know if the trem sounded halfway authentic or not, that's a stompbox in AT4 threw onto the track after I recorded it...

There are two of those little EVH heads at my local GC in their used section. I'm gonna go check one out.

Chances are you probably won't like it much Greg, it's got way too much gain for you...I'd say you wouldn't get past 2 on the gain knob....

But if/when you do play through one, see if you can use a similar cab as mine & let me know what you think...

See if you can try one of the little Bassbreakers while you're there. I tried a combo recently and thought it was great. Gonna try it again with my guitar at some point.

I don't expect I'll like it much either. I kind of like the big versions, but it's just too much gain. The big ones will do a reasonable clean though. I just wanna play with one and see what's up. I have no interest in buying one.

I know for a fact they won't have a bastardized 4x12 cab or a matching EVH cab though. So no dice on the cab. I'll have to just use a regular 1960.

I have tried the Bassbreakers already. I like them. But it wasn't the little one. I think the ones I played were the 18/30 and the 45.
