Hey Greg - what do you think of these listings and prices? Look especially at the last one, 66/67 JTM50.

Mark's Guitar Loft ~ amps

This guy is local. Been selling high end and vintage stuff for years. I have my own thoughts but I'd like yours before I share. Check his guitar offerings as well.

Thanx.

Wow. A "Black Flag" JTM. And for the bargain price of $9000. Yikes. But I guess I can see asking that kind of price for that super rare amp. I doubt he'd get it, but some collector may cough up the cash. The rest of his collection seems a little high to me, except for the stuff marked "sold". Shocker, huh? The stuff appropriately priced is sold already. Maybe he's asking crazy amounts to be talked down and still make profit.

I don't really have an opinion on his guitar pricing. All Gibsons are overpriced to me, so I guess his own are right on target. Lol. Most of that shit is actual vintage or CS reissues, so naturally they'll all be top dollar. That Goldtop darkback is pretty much on point for what it is, so I'm gonna assume the rest of his pricing is pretty much the going asking pricing as well, with wiggle room for negotiation.

Thanks. Pretty much confirms my thoughts. I've met Mark and talked to him several times. The R4 LP I have was sold by him to the guy I bought it from and he was kind enough to discuss the guitar over the phone before I bought it. Not many would do that. His stuff is a bit pricey on the surface and never having bought from him I'm not sure of his haggling room. He told me he had some when we were talking about an early 70s Junior but it was still out of my range. Damn vintage shit!

He does have some cool shit though. A Black Flag JTM is pretty special. That amp is kind of the bridge that took Marshalls away from being mere Fender clones and becoming their own monsters.

Holy fuck, I guess the only vintage gear I'll ever have is what I've got right now, 30 years from now...Those LP's are nice, but again, holy fuck at the prices!!!

Miner, good buddy, I've had a change of heart. You DO need a JCM 800. I had mine wailing this morning, hit it with a tube screamer, and man, you'd pop a boner. I was thinking in it's natural state you might not like it, and you may not, but with the gain all the way up and overdriven, jesus harold leroy tap dancing christ, it's killer.

Sorry to stoke your GAS. Happy Easter. :D

Happy Easter to you too dude...:laughings:

Thanks a bunch for igniting my GAS again dude...:).I'm still looking around/debating on it, as like I've mentioned 1,000 times, it'll be a while down the road before I'll be able to buy anything like this. But, I never really gave up on getting an 800 dude, I was just looking at other options...I still stand by my comments about it being an iconic amp used on more albums than I can count, & a lot of those albums are what made me wanna play guitar in the first place...

While I don't have a TS, I do have an SD-1 already, all I need is a JCM 800...:D.

I've been looking at stereo mic bars today, & can't find anything long/wide enough unless the bar cost more than all my mics, stands combined...I'd like to have one that's like 24", that way I could use it on 2 speakers at the same time, with one mic stand. It wouldn't have to be 24" wide, but it'd be nice to have just in case. I'd rather have the option & not use it, than need/want it then not be able to use it....Any help/suggestions???

Man just use two mic stands.

Yeah, you're right dude....I always seem to overthink & over-complicate things....

Had to go see my Momma today, had a good Easter Sunday with her. She's doing really good for her age, & I can only hope if I live to be that old, I'll still get around like she does...

And there ain't nobody's cooking like Momma's....:D.

Hhahaha! I'm fucking dying......

I know the feeling Rami...I haven't sit down & ate that much in quite a while...I'm gonna have to dig my sweatpants out because my jeans feel line they're cutting me in half.....:D

Hehe....Yeah, that too. :D

No, I meant I'm dying laughing at the picture I posted.

Ha!!! That too man, I mean WTF????

Do all these guys (not just these guys, all of 'em) realize they look fuckin' retarted???

Man there's been so much activity lately that we need a tone thread directory or something!

I can see that there's a minerman and a Rami tone to listen to...did I miss anything else in the last 48 hours? I'll be in front of the studio computer tonight so I'll give a listen.

Rami
Tones sound good on that song. Rhythm guitars especially. I like the cocked wah thing, and its a cool riff and arrangement.

minerman
That song sounds pretty damn good to me man. Guitar tones are all clear and sound great. That very first clean-ish guitar that came in rubbed me the wrong way until it was featured again later in the song, then it was perfect. Could just be in my head.

Anyways, great job gents. I'm coming down with a cold or something and I feel like crap. So off to an early bedtime for me. I hope to find more wall-shaking, spouse-annoying, police-summoning noise when I wake up :)

OK, OK...couldn't sleep. A fever made it sound like a good idea to share this. If you're tired of my spamming with videos, just say so.

This is my demo of a JHS FireFly Fuzz into my JCM800. Skip to 2:00 if you wanna get right to the tonez. I just got Sony's entry-level video editing software to use instead of Reaper, so there is some cheesy stuff going on as I try to figure out how to do every thing. There were just a few things I wanted to do that Reaper couldn't (like picture-in-picture and easier titles/captions).

tad,
That last sound was very cheap 60s.
Interesting.
I bought a few pedals to compensate for the fact that my Marshal Superbass doesn't break up but, in the end, I bought a 5w amp that was cheaper than many pedals and had a decent break up.
I seem to end up using just the amp for rock'n or a MultiFX unit is I want to get spacey.

No way man, they're great. Good quality, and very informative.

I'm not a big fan of fuzz. They're pretty useless to me. But I like what you got there with your earlier settings - before you started messing with the bias and EQ settings. And the low input on that amp is just right for that sort of effect. I wish you had plugged into the high input just to give a demo of what happens. Good vid though. Keep em coming!
