Hahaha, thanks man. Fortunately, while seated, a Les Paul obscures a beer belly pretty well! I was always the scrawny wire-y kid. The slower metabolism of adulthood put an end to that. Plus the camera adds 10 lbs. And so do the chili dogs. And rum & cokes. And general lethargy. :D

When I saw your drum video, I was like damn, RAMI is friggin ripped. Your singing voice reminds me so much of my friend's older brother, that I started to project his image onto you. He's balding and waaaay overweight. But I'd at least pieced together enough from your posts around here about your gym participation that I didn't really think that you were a 55 year old fatso. But it was still a shock to see actual RAMI instead of mental image RAMI :D
OK, now you want to hear something really fucked up. I was going to post this about 10 minutes ago, but I was laughing too hard. Your post was back to back with Miner....I thought YOU were Minerman. I realized after I posted that you're tadpui. Fuck, I'm laughing. The way Minerman described himself, and has made no secret of recent health issues, I thought he (you) made a great recovery. I hope he has anyway. But I thought you were him.

Still laughing at my stupidity..................:D

Yeah, that happens to us all on the internet. We form a certain mental image of someone until we see them, and it's usually not what we thought.

I have an actual music video in the "Video" section here where I'm not hidden by mic stands and cymbals. :)

Haha, man that's great! You really upped the ante with a fucking video. Good video too. Good sound, good video, good sync, all good. Well done.

The tone....I think it's great. That sounds like they're supposed to sound. Classic Marshall goodness. You got it figured out. The high input is where the magic happens. That LP is bad ass too.

Man I wish I knew how to make a video. That shit's like Chinese to me. I don't even know where to begin.

Thanks man! Yeah, listening back to the audio I'm a MUCH bigger fan of the hi gain input on this thing. That bite is there. It sounds godawful in the room though. That's what's been throwing me. Too small of a room to contain that kind of volume. But to a mic right on the grille, it's much more reasonable.

This is my first foray into video. I bought the camera hoping to do some geeky YouTube tutorials and stuff. I just used Reaper, which has some rudimentary video capabilities since version 5. And since I'm a total video beginner, rudimentary is all I need. Basically the camera audio/video just another track in Reaper. Make a sudden loud noise so you can sync up the various audio tracks with the camera's audio, then just mute the camera audio and mix the rest of the tracks like you normally would. It's a bigger pain in the ass than just mixing audio, but it's not too bad.

So how do you get the video into Reaper? I have a killer camera, I just don't know how to do anything with it.

Greg, making these kind of videos is easy. As you saw in my drum video, I just put the camera down on a table and pressed record, like a newbie with a microphone. Just like with music, you then upload the video to your computer and you can even just post it as is, or you can use software to edit, etc....Making an actual music video is also relatively easy. The problem is that the amount of fucking man hours you put in just to edit a 3 minute video is fucking ridiculous. But for a video like this, you'd figure it out in 10 minutes.

So you just mute the video's sound and record the audio like you would for a song and use that?

Tad: Nice vid man, what software did you use to put all that together??? You did a great job on it dude....The tone(s) sound great man, that's about as Marshall-y as you can get IMO....

Thanks about the new SG....details below...

That sounds killer as all git out to me, but I'll let the xperts chime in with the details.

Dude, I feel weird saying this as a straight guy to another (I assume) straight guy, but you look great. I expected you to look all un-healthy and shit. It's so cool to put a face to someone's typing. Happy to see you happy doing what you love.

That red SG is fricking p0rn to me. If I didn't own 2 red SG's myself, I'd probably be crying right now. It's beautiful as shit.

Awesome, dude. Rock on.

If you guys wanna see an un-healthy, sickly looking guy, just wait 'til I put up a vid...:laughings: I've lost almost 50 lbs since the heart attack in October....:eek:Thanks Rami, I can't wait until that thing gets here....

Lol. Goddamn miner! That GAS ate at you hard, huh? That's a gorgeous Batwing SG. Very nice. Congrats!

So is it 57 Classic equipped or 498/490?

Just said fuck it, & whipped the card out. The past year or so has been so bad in every way imaginable so this is gonna be a real treat for me guys. I sold my best amp, a couple pedals & a bunch of other shit just to make ends meet. To put it short, it's been a hard fuckin' year, the hardest I can ever remember...:(

Anyway, enough cryin', it's a 2016 Gibson SG Standard T in heritage cherry, with 498T/490R p'ups. I almost got the P-90 version of this (exactly the same, just different p'ups), but figured I'd try these out, & if/when the urge hits, I should be able to swap the p'ups out pretty easily...That may not even happen, I dunno. I just can't wait to "get my Angus on" when that motherfucker gets here. My LP has 490's in both the neck & bridge, so the SG's bridge will be just a little hotter...:D.

Oh yeah, I bought an i5 too, it'll be here with the SG...:).

Rami uses a body double.

Hahaha, so he really is a 55-year-old fatso! I knew it! (I kid, I kid...)

Hahaha, honest mistake man. No worries, I'd be doing well to have the fortitude that Miner has shown over this last year.

I watched that video, it was a lot of what inspired me to at least try some static shot tutorial kinds of things. I thought it was great. There's some good creative shots and effects in there, it's making me excited to learn more about video editing. Sorry I haven't commented there yet, I'm just terrible at participating lately. I'll snap out of it soon.

Yeah, no shit. We all would.

Thanks guys, it's been a rough motherfucker over here for well over a year now, but finally things are starting to turn around for me. I was honestly getting very, very worried after I fell sick because I wasn't able to get out to "hustle up" anything like before (sometimes I don't have to have a job to make $$$ if ya know where I'm coming from...:p). Now, I don't have to worry about it, all my bills will be paid, everything's finally good. But I still owe you guys here, not only helping me financially, you guys really keep me goin' mentally here too. This thread means a lot to me, it's one of the few things in my life I've had to look forward to recently, that's no shit....

All you guys rock!!!

Well you got yourself a bad ass geetar! You know I fucking love SGs, so yeah, that's a killer new purchase. I'm real happy for ya.

I think SGs might be winning the tone thread. I have 3, Rami has 2, miner just got one, antichef has one that I'm aware of. Anyone else? That's a lot of regulars with a lot of SGs.

Miro's 587 Hagstroms don't count. He's just one guy with a bunch of the same guitar. :D

I'm pretty stoked about this guitar, I mean, I really like my LP, but this one is "prettied up" with the binding & nitro...And obviously, pics/clips to come...:D.

Nothing like an SG for me. Even on a practical level, as a lefty, I can't play a Les Paul. But the double cutaway on an SG makes it the ultimate trans-dexterous guitar. I call mine Kaitlyn. :)

My first electric guitar was an SG, Rami. It was actually an early 70's SG 1 just like this:

My lovely, first ex-wife sold it & an Ibanez S540PRO guitar to fund her drug habit when we split. Yeah, she got by with it, & I've never saw her since because if I did, I'd probably be in prison for murder. By the time I realized it'd happened, it was too late...My parents bought both those guitars for me when I was a teenager...

Here's a pic of the Ibanez exactly like the one I had:

The Ibanez was a killer little guitar, light as a feather, 3 DiMarzio-made humbuckers (the middle & neck were stacked 'buckers), 3 on/off switches so I could use the neck & bridge p'up together, coil tap switch on the bridge p'up, locking trem that I could not make go out of tune once it was locked....I could probably find another one like it, but this one was special, as my parents bought it for me as a Christmas present when I was 17....They bought the little SG & a Fender Bronco amp for me when I was 13, Dad gave $300 for both the guitar & amp....Sure wish I had 'em back, but they've been gone for over 20 years now....

Nice guitars, all of them.

My first guitar was when I was about 24. Before that, the only guitars I got to play were the right handed guitars of whoever I was in a band with, if they let me. So, I was actually better at playing literally upside down for years. I switch the strings now, but I played upside down for a long time.

Nice catch Minerman! Enjoy it. Tadpui, is that one of the new silverface reissue Deluxes next to your Marshall? How are you liking it? I'd love to hear you play it.

So how do you get the video into Reaper? I have a killer camera, I just don't know how to do anything with it.

In Reaper, press the Insert key on your keyboard (or go to Insert->Media File...) and navigate to your video file. That'll create a track from your video file. There is a codec to download (I Googled, downloaded and installed a program called VLC, which installs some video codecs that allow Reaper to magically be able to play videos). At first you'll only see the audio track for your video. In Reaper, go to View->Video Window and that'll show you the video portion of the video file in a viewer window.

From there you can add audio tracks from your various mic inputs on your interface. Do a little splitting or automating so you can turn down your vocal mic when you blast an amp, do a little moving to sync up the audio files to the video file. You can drag and drop still images into the video track (that's how I got the still images of the amp face). It's basic, but more than enough to keep me busy for now. As a complete newb, I at least got this far in just one or two evenings of fiddling with it.

The only non-obvious thing I have going on here is that I put a pencil condenser mic right over my head just out of the camera frame, as a boom mic. That way I didn't have to rely on the camera's audio from across the room to pick up my voice (and all of the room ambiance). I just killed the volume on that track in Reaper while the guitar is playing. And the camera is on a mic stand, attached with a ball-in-socket thread adapter I got off of Amazon for like 10 bucks.
