Sounds like ass :in my country white voice: .
That's you, not the equipment. Nothing is going to make you not sound like country white ass.

i agree with the idea that there are other variables that are affecting your sound... that being said, a good mic pre can make even a mediocre mic sound much better. If it were me, i'd go with the Avalon. Everything BLUE makes is crap now and likewise, while i love their plugins, I'm not sure UA's hardware is as brilliant as it used to be. The apollo is a nice box, I own one myself, but I their mic pres are only fair to middlin' and have a lot of color to them... which you may want. Avalon's stuff is well built, and is more neutral sounding, although you can definitely dial in some color, depending on which model your using.
Have you considered the 500 units? While there might the a little more upfront cost to get a lunchbox and a pre, the units are usually less expensive than there rack counterparts and gets you into the world of some really nice boutique pres without breaking the bank each time. And there hot right now, so if you don't like one, you can usually get good trade value on them on ebay and such... just an idea.

OK, nice to see that I'm not the only one......In his other thread, he came in here trying to "educate" us all, but the "semantics" were way off. In this one, he must be "generalizing".![]()
