That's you, not the equipment. Nothing is going to make you not sound like country white ass.

IDK, been listening to some Neu' Country, and man that 'Yall-O Tune is all over that sh*t like 'white on.. Well you know :p

I thought it was "White Country Ass" ... Country White sounds like a swatch of paint at the hardware store. Hey honey lets paint the kitchen Country White. Ok honey you mean country white ass? Yes dear that's it- country white ass, king of like eggshell.

Ok guys wait I didn't know this impedance switch was this effective, I was tripping. I put the impedance out to 2500 and I quickly re thought about buying another preamp. Sorry guys. You all was right. Learn the gear first yada yada I know lol.

Also I played with the saturation knob and it made everything sound much better. Like wayyyy better.

i agree with the idea that there are other variables that are affecting your sound... that being said, a good mic pre can make even a mediocre mic sound much better. If it were me, i'd go with the Avalon. Everything BLUE makes is crap now and likewise, while i love their plugins, I'm not sure UA's hardware is as brilliant as it used to be. The apollo is a nice box, I own one myself, but I their mic pres are only fair to middlin' and have a lot of color to them... which you may want. Avalon's stuff is well built, and is more neutral sounding, although you can definitely dial in some color, depending on which model your using.

Have you considered the 500 units? While there might the a little more upfront cost to get a lunchbox and a pre, the units are usually less expensive than there rack counterparts and gets you into the world of some really nice boutique pres without breaking the bank each time. And there hot right now, so if you don't like one, you can usually get good trade value on them on ebay and such... just an idea.

Blue and UA are crap? What do you base that statement on? Got 'em? Used 'em? Methinks thou talkest out of thine ass.

OK, nice to see that I'm not the only one......In his other thread, he came in here trying to "educate" us all, but the "semantics" were way off. In this one, he must be "generalizing".:D

Right.

Babelfish translator:

'educate' = mislead

'semantics' = meaninglessness

'generalize' = talk out of one's arse
