If only for a moment.....
A good 7 years before AC/DC, Brian Johnson was the singer in a hard rock band from up north called Geordie. I think his voice was better in Geordie than it was in AC/DC.
It's funny, though I really dig the "Back in black" album and it was my intro to the band, I went backwards with them and the Bon Scott era is unparalleled in my mind. He was one of heavy rock's finest vocalists and a fantastic lyricist, underrated depth where he needed it {"Ride on", "Squealer", "If you want blood"}, tremendous storytelling ability in two or three short verses and just about the best humour of anyone out there, consistently. I still crack up at many of his lyrics {"She's got the lips to make a strong man weak/and a heathen pray" from "Go down"}, probably my fave of his being "Ain't no fun waiting round to be a millionaire", though there's lots to choose from....
