Well look at this little thing....

A buddy of mine is going through some tough times and his home life is not good. He's got some concerns about the well being of his gear so he moved some of his shit to my garage. One of those items is this little fella....

Krank Rev Jr


For size perspective....


The back....


20 watts, three 12ax7, two 6L6, effects loop, clean channel, and OD channel with a boost, and some sweep knob thing.

How does it sound? Pretty bland. It sounds like a typical little high gain amp - kind of mucky, a little fizzy, but not terrible. It's got like this cloud of low mid mush in it that requires some pretty extreme knob tweaking to clean up. But it's kind of neat. I'm gonna play with it and see what's up.

He's also got out in my garage a Lopoline 2x12 w/ WGS Veteran 30s, and this little Krank's big brother - the 100w Krank Rev series one. I don't know what his fascination with Krank gear is, but they're okay. They're just so metal cheesy that I'd never feel right about using one. I mean really....Krank! What a silly name. Lol. He's using a JVM 410 now so his two Kranks have been relegated to backup/for sale status.

There's also a very high quality pro road/flight case with some rack shit in it. A Furman power conditioner, Sonic Maximizer, and some Intellifex digital effects unit. Really 80s. This little Krank head is the only thing I have any interest in. But I'm happy to have his stuff here so it doesn't get smashed or stolen. He's got his guitars at his work.
 
Post some clips of both his amps dude, I'm sure you can dial something in that sounds good, you have that talent...:thumbs up:

On the size thing, looks pretty close to the size of my Tweaker amp, & circuit/tube wise, sounds pretty close too....

I've looked at those amps (online), but really never had any interest in buying one myself....

Just screwing around with different mic placement today, shitty, short clip to keep the thread going.....Not looking for any particular sound, just going for the Marshall-y crunch thing, I happen to like this tone quite a bit to be honest........

Sounds pretty good. Closer to the edge? Maybe off-axis? Sounds like it's got a little of the woof that you get away from the center, but still has clarity. I like.
