Taste of home
LOL, kidding. I'm just trying to get into the spirit of things. :o

This tune was inspired by folksy guitar chicks.

I know what you're thinking...

But if you fancy, have a listen. I don't expect a lot of feedback. Just 'cool', or nothing will suffice. I'm still processing the last lot of great info/feedback I received from ya'll. :)

Folxie Cliche:

when i read folksy guitar chicks i think of capos. i was not let down.

this is nice. it sounds intentional, but deliberate in a walden kind of way. make sense?

i like the chords too and the rhyming.

I love it. For this style, you have the perfect voice. Everything sounds good to me, but maybe others that are more familiar with acoustic guitar recording might have some pointers, though it sounds great to me.

A few songs ago, I suggested bringing your voice up a bit. Now, I'd say MAYBE bring it down just a tad. I think it seems slightly dis-jointed from the guitar, and that might be because it's just slightly too up front.

Very nice song, and silky sweet voice.

Yeah. with ROLOS on this one... turn up the guitars a touch, the voice down a touch....

It's a pain in the arse to do, but I'd also go and edit out some of the lip smacks... I don't mind you breathing in my ear but licking it? Ewww...... :D

Couple of notes towards the end there a bit "pitchy" as they say on The Voice...

Sounds nice though. You'll have an album together before you know it the way you're churning them out at the moment.

Sounds like something that would play in the credits right after a very real-life, thought provoking movie.

I like it! I have no complaints about anything.

This is really good, I agree on the levels tho, sounds like you just pressed the red button to get the idea saved, & I for one am glad you did, it has great potential! :guitar:

Thanks. :) It was a pretty quick project I have to say. But I didn't really feel it was worth exploring further. But maybe I was wrong.

Naww, lovely, thanks. You're right about the vocals being louder. I can't stop touching stuff sometimes and I should have just left it. Funny though, first too soft, now to loud. :D

Aaah, yeh that is pretty much what I did. LOL. Maybe I'll work on it a bit more. Ta for the listen.

Hey cool man, I've heard your guitar stuff so that's excellent to hear you got no major nits with the recording of that. Maybe that is one thing I CAN do with a bit of consistency now. At long last. :)

What did I win?

Oh...that was going to be your prize. Well, I gave you some rep instead. :D Yeh maybe I will work on this a bit more and clean it up & expand it. I do kind of like it, but as it stands it's not a good production, a bit short and samesy. Could be a lot better.

Yeah, that friggin' woman from that friggin' Friends TV program really set back the cause of folksy guitar chicks by 20 years didn't she?

Nice tune and the simplicity of it is cool. I often find just guitar and vocal quite boring, but this works well and I didn't get bored at any point during the entire 95 seconds of it :D

I agree with others in the thread about the vocals coming down and the lip-smacks either being edited out or removed at source. You're writing some good stuff Frits.

You'll have an album together before you know it...

Yes, and at this pace you'll have a 12 track CD clocking in at 17 minutes!

Wait...did you say we're being mounted like donkeys? Anyway, I like the song and am still fascinated by your accent and your lyrics. I've listened a bunch of times. Not too much different sounding production-wise to me here, although I agree about the levels. The vocal seems pretty dry compared to the guitar to me too, which is fine, but combined with the higher volume, it really stood out. Ever feel like you can't win? Next time we'll be saying..."try singing with less confidence", or something totally contrary.

So, if you were to expand on this or other tracks, are you thinking about more instruments/bigger arrangements, or just longer songs with more parts? Just curious...do you have a lot of additional instruments around?

Thanks for sharing, and please continue to do so. I look forward to hearing your songs each time you post.

Cute. Now where are my prizes!

Great work F-girl. You've been zipping right alone since you've gotten here.

Cheers man, thanks for listening, I always appreciate your vocal feedback. That lip smacking and stuff...others mentioned it too. I never hear it until you say. I have to work on spotting it for myself. I sound like I've got a peg on my nose at the end too.

95 seconds was it? That is pretty short, even by my standards. I guess it was starting to get a bit too depressing for me to continue. :)

I'm going to try shaving off 2min so I can fit it on a 15 min cassette tape.

Wait...did you say we're being mounted like donkeys?

Haha, mounted by a donkey or being munted - same diff probably. :D

All of it really, I think trying to develop my ideas more will mean the songs get longer. I have a banjo, ukulele, melodica, recorder & harmonica. All of which I can play, but pretty badly. :)

Ta, and same to you!

Thanks man, sorry about the prize thing, it was all a have. I was just having a sarcastic moment on account of the competition that took over this town for a few days. :D But you can listen to this as often as you like, although admittedly, that is more of a punishment than a prize.
