This was under one of his Youtubes .......

This guy used to email me back and forth talking about guitars, that was until he told me he won a competition against Yngwie Malmsteen. And that Yngwie asked him for tips... Joey what ever you are on... It impairs your judgment by 500 billion light years from reality.

hahaha
how did you guess what program I used...wow..

Amazing!!!

This is one of the longest lived non stickied threads in the history of internet. Good Job HR.

this bonehead was asked by Yngwie for tips???????????? The nerve of some people...I saw Yngwie on his first tour.. no one even heard of him, i think there was maybe 20 people at the Agora here in Columbus Ohio. But I must say this reminds me of a Frank Marino concert in Cleveland, during a meet 'n' greet, some guy in line says to Frank, "hey have you ever heard of these pickups (i can't remember the name) they are great!" As soon as the guy walks away Frank rolls his eyes, giving me one of those "oh geesh" looks... and I say loud enough for everyone to hear (cause that's the kinda guy I am) "Frank don't change a thing you kick ass!!".....lol what a dolt, Frank does all his own modding of amps and pedals, knowing Frank as I do (his dad knew my dad) and we talk whenever we can we just laughed ...very loud and hard!
Now back to this joker Joey.... Joe, you're a shameless self promoter.

Joe, you're a shameless self promoter.

Give him credit for being well known around the music boards of the internet. Unfortunately he's universally despised and laughed at as a complete joke and he will never succeed, but he's still well known.

Okay back to the tones. I haven't posted any in a while. So here's some crap...

91 MIM Strat bridge p/u > Marshall JCM900 > Marshall 1960a Greenback > Sennheiser e609 flat on grill halfway to edge of speaker > Reaper > no EQ, fx, or processing

All amp EQ at noon
Gain - 5
Master vol - 7

Strat/Marshall/Greenback/e609

mostly sounds like you but it's a little distant or mellower sounding than I usually hear from you.
No real 'edge' to the sound while you usually have a brashier more 'in your face' sorta sound.
Is that e609 a new addition to the chain?

I like this for beds and such though it wouldn't cut thru a mix like your edgier sounding gits would.

Thanks Boob. I probably wouldn't use a tone like this for anything anyway but yeah I notice what you're saying and I think it's that mic. I've had this mic for a while but never use it for anything. It rolls off fast after like 5k and is kind of scooped in the middle. I kind of like it for how it tames the Strat though. With the 57 in the same spot it would be blowing your face off. I think this could work though for a rhythm track. I really wanna try this mic on my snare. Lol.

Nice tone Greg!

I've never really liked distorted guitars though, so it can be hard for me to listen all the way.

Thanks dude. Whaddaya mean you don't like distorted guitars? Are you a commie or something? :D

These are a fair amount cleaner than what I usually roll with.

Here's the same everything but with a 57 in roughly the same spot.

Strat/Marshall/Greenback/57
never thought I'd find myself remarking on how much brighter a 57 was. :D

That's WAY better to my ears ...... to me that e609 tone would be good for some mellow floydish stuff which means you'll prolly never use it but, IF you ever found yourself wishing you had a keyboard sorta background chordal track you might put a little chorus on that and it would work I think.

But really ..... for your sound I can see why that mic would stay in the mic drawer.

What about drums ? .... not really good for that either?
