Couple questions for you pros, being an owner of this
DP-24 for a couple days now (and yes, I'm new to home recording). I know that I bought more of a machine than I needed but the price was good and I fell in love with all the cool knobs...
#1) From reading this forum, is "monitor" the same as "stereo RCA jacks coming out the back"? I have headphones, as well as speakers hooked up to the RCA jacks. When recording, I put on headphones and have to unplug the RCA jacks or else the sound comes through the speakers. Then, to listen on the speakers, I plug back in the RCA jacks. From reading the forum, it seems there is no way to turn off the "monitor" while recording but is that what I'm doing in my setup?
#2) I plug my SM-58 mic into the XLR jack in back (straight in with the mic cable), and have to turn the trim up, all the way to the right, crank the master/stereo fader all the way up, and crank that channel fader almost all the way up to get some sensitivity in that microphone. I've tried
the other inputs too, assign them to different channels, they all work the same way. It seems like it needs more power or something (phantom is off btw, the SM-58 doesn't use it as you know). Does it sound like I'm doing something wrong? Should I be doing something different?
Thank you!
