Hi guys! am chris, i have a studio, quite good by my opinion. but the area i am there are so many home studios and its still opening up to music and entertainment. seems like everyone that sings or writes songs own a studio. i have not been to do a hit either bcos getting an artiste to record is haaaaa! tough. what do i do to make my studio known?

Word of mouth man. If you are really good, it will come to you. I would suggest hanging out at gigs. Convince an awesome band to come to your studio for free. Put out awesome, and others will pay you awesome money to sound awesome. Did I say awesome again? Damn tourettes!! Fat!!

Seriously, it works if you are really good. :)

Not the spontaneous yelling tho. But I have a buddy with that, and he is actually a great promoter.

have you considered offering a free recording session to a local band you like? get them in and no matter how whiny, dumb, or annoying they are, just make them like you. they'll tell all their friends about how great it was working with you and the requests should follow.

Another good tip is that it's like any other business really...you have to excel in a certain area where the competition does not. That always means either lower prices, better quality, or better service than the "other guys"...or a combo of all the three :D

Offer free trials and be better at what you do than the alternatives.

Do like me....forget it everyone thinks they can make records in there bedroom these days (and do sometimes) and has very little need for studios anymore!! I know I say that sarcasticly but , Ive had studios in the pass with problems getting business unless i had every new gadget on the market...and still never did a real business.....sorry but thats my thoughts on the subject

Even if not free, really cheap is a good start.

I actually started my home recording studio, by giving a free 3 song demo for a band that had payed me to produce their record at another studio 5 years ago. They are now paying to do a full length recording at my studio this month. It takes a good track record (pun intended) to get paying clients.
