.... being made again in California?

Awesome looking too .... check out the Custom shop ones. But I want that '65 re-issue!
Mosrite Guitars

You can actually call and talk to the prez of the company.
They're pricey but they said if I send a package with my details they might put together a professional discount for me.

I want one kinda bad.
:)

Yup. I'm actually planning a trip to Vegas later this year or early next to check out Ed Romans collection. I know he's a douche, but he's got a giant pile of Mosrites that you simply won't see anywhere else. They're all pretty fucking badass, even the pink one. :laughings:

This one gave me the boner.

Some of those guitars are stunning. They are IMO the best looking guitars ever made.

I totally agree.
I used to just sit and look thru a mosrite catalog and I could sit all day at this site looking.

I have, however, always had a thing for that 'reversed' look the Mosrites have. For instance I've also always liked Firebirds .... the original ones.
And when dad was flying a lot, the plane that I thought was beautiful was the Staggerwing which was a bi-plane with the lower wing further forward than the upper.

I'm opposite man!!

I agree! The backwards body shape always appealed to me even before I knew what I was really looking at. I remember looking at my dad's Ventures albums and thinking, "those guitars are so cool!". Then many years later I noticed the MC5 and Johnny Ramone using them and I was like "wait a minute, I know that guitar!" Then it hit me...I have to have one. They look cool, sound cool, and all my favorite music has Mosrites all over it. I've had knockoffs, but never the real thing. I saw one fairly recently at a GC, but it was beat to shit and they still wanted 2700 for it. There's another hanging high in the rafters at a local guitar shop, but it isn't for sale. Soon though, I will have one. I can feel it in my bones. :D

I didn't think anything cool was in Bakersfield (except the original Del Taco)...I stand corrected.

Actually, Bakersfield is only about 90 min or less from Vegas.

EDIT: whoops my mistake I confused bakersfield with barstow...both still suck, but bakersfield isn't that close to vegas.

It looks like some dude drank a 12 pack of beer and then decided that he would try to build a guitar. He wasn't sure whether he wanted a strat or a PRS so he tried to combine the two unsuccessfully. While he was routing out the hole for the neck pickup his dog grabbed the guitar and took a large bite out of the headstock causing him to gouge out a crooked hole. Then he needed a tail piece so he scavenged some parts from an old Ford pickup truck that was sitting out back with weeds growing around it.

I don't think PRS existed that long ago. But I do agree with the dog bite.

I like 'em... just wondering how that pickup selector works in its lower position.... I never really got why Gib and PRS and others stuck them up high where they do - bit hard to get to in a hurry for mine, but how do they work in the position in Greg's pic?

I've never played one, so just askin'... I can see you wouldn't hit it accidentally because it's out of the way, but it sort of puts it in the area that you'd need to use your pick holding fingers to make a change rather than your middle finger and bottom of hand in the strat set up.

Just theorising... I'm nowhere near a guitar at the moment, so I have no idea how I actually flick that switch on a strat/tele...

Too funny...my first real exposure to guitar music was the Ventures. And the albums were my dad's as well. My favorite was "Walk, Don't Run." But that's where the similarities end (at least as far as this thread goes), because I think Mosrites are fugly.

The rush of memories sent me to YouTube--I'm watching the Ventures right now. Man could they play. Also, I've been to Ed Roman's joint in Vegas--definitely worth stopping in.

Semie Mosley's original design was based on a flipped over Strat. The longer lower horn and oblonged body are classic design elements of pretty much any Mosrite. The German carving around the edges too. I think they're fucking mega-cool guitars.

Dig the photo girls on the website. I haven't seen spiked hair like that since Nikki Sixx on the Shout At The Devil album!

absolutely beautiful to me too.
I wish i wasn't so poor right now, I'd definitely get one of the new ones ..... they look exactly like the old ones and, according to their website, Mosley's daughter used to make the p'ups and still does today so they ought to sound the same too.
Although to be honest I have no idea how they sound in my hands nowadays.

guys ..... it's an 'M' ......... M for Mosrite.

And no ...... there were no PRSs back then.
lol @ PRS. Why would anyone even mention that shit in this thread?

The original Mosrite single-coils were supposedly really hot too. Like way hotter than a P-90 or anything in a Strat or Tele.

These fuckers are expensive as shit though.

I never got the PRS hype, either. Nicely made, but something about the sound of the guitar or the pickups or both that did nothing for me.
