Friends - MP3 Mix

Back again with the latest mix - re-recorded all the guitar tracks today. Eq'd the MP3 a bit to try and make it sound less crappy at such a low bit rate. Does this need any fixes to the mix? Let me know what you think.... Thanks! :D:D:D:D

Thats a nice mix on my system, I would hate to criticise anything about it but in the interest of getting even better, there was something sleepy in the vocals, for want of a better description. Great voice but maybe a touch of verb to open it up a bit but what came to mind was the need for some vocal harmony in the chorus to give it more life. I love the guitar tone, I wish I could get that. But as far as the mix goes, I didn't see any nails sticking up. Very smooth

Thanks guitarlegend... Glad you like what you hear and will be looking into vocal harmonies. :D:D:D

Sounds pretty good. Some issues to me. The vocals don't sit in/with the mix to me. They need some delay or something. I'd go easy with the reverb, but a nice slap-back on the vox would suit it well I think.

I think the guitars sound good. I think you need some variety with the rhythm guits though. They sound good, but too similar from left to right. It's kind of like a wash of the same sound in the background. In the future, maybe try a different guitar for each track or a different pickup or something. Tweak the amp. Put a different mic on the cab. Something. You can play the same thing, but using different guitars can really add some dimension to the overall rhythm sound.

I think the bass sounds good, but it gets lost here and there. I don't think it's an EQ things, just a level thing. Turn it up some.

Overall pretty nice and mellow. Nice job.

Thanks for the listen Greg - I'll do some tweaking recording and see what I can do!

Nice tune ido. I think the mix could use some gluing together, as the instruments and vocals seem to be coming from separate places

The bass should definitely come out a bit, I agree that the vocals could use a slap back delay or a double or something.

Yeah, a swapped mic or mic placement would make enough diff but you do have 2 really good guitars so it'd probably be worth using both.
Slap bacl would be interesting.
I think the bass just needs a little defining EQ. But my ears are toast on the best days (crumpets on the otehrs!).
