I see deaf people
My first attempt at a moombahton track...its a little faster than they normally are but there you go

dunno if its any good, I like it, the bass is a little repetitive (lol) its a club mix, so its a bit long

anyhoo first mix, anything jumping out or irritating?

I see some new faces in here...will have to get some listening done :)

Alright KC, I've never heard of Moombahton - just googled it and none of the names mentioned ring a bell.

Everything sounds super clear and there's lots to keep interest. I have to admit that stylistically it's not my favourite of yours, but that's just down to personal taste - it's definitely good work.

The only thing I got in terms of issues was that I felt the whole mix was maybe a little bright - maybe too much going on in the mids/upper mids. It bashes the ears a bit and seems to nudge the mix in the direction of cheesy in a way that it probably wouldn't it if it was tamed here - if that makes sense?

I think this is pretty cool. I don't like the female voices, but stylistically the rest of it is very good. It's interesting how all these electrodance sub genres are dependent on certain factors like kick samples and tempo.

Anyway, I think it's a little light in the bottom end. The highs aren't killing me, but the bottom could use more fullness. It's also very, very clean and dry. I like clean and I like dry, but maybe some ambience on the bass line or kick would help fill out the bottom and give it more dimension.

This sounds really good to me. From a mix perspective, I have no nits. I think everything sits together well, and it's clean and doesn't sound too hyped, which I think could be a danger with this style.

Do you ever submit your stuff to try to get licensing or anything like that? I've submitted a couple of things, and when I've been out looking around, it seems like the various electronic genres are in pretty high demand. If you aren't already making money from this stuff, it sure seems like you could be!

Very Best,

Moombahton? To the Wikipedia!

This does seem rather relaxed and not-bassy for modern dance music. I don't have any mix nits though.

I think I like this best of your stuff I've heard so far. Lot's of interesting elements/ear candy. Great frequency balance, something new happening every few seconds. I've never done anything remotely like this, and it's not a genre I really listen too but I can think of a few people I know who would really dig this. I especially like how you are dropping in elements like the sax...

OK Rob, I had a feeling the highs and LFs were prolly a little off but ill check the mids too

I do hype it a bit before I put it on here, Ill just zero everything and leave it with the limiter and see if that sounds better

yeah Moombahton, its a new thing every week lol...I like the sort of latin and world feel some of it has though the genres pretty sparse, I think Ill try a couple as its not too far away from what Ive been trying

now I need a spanish singer, hows yours? ;)

OK G, again my room doesnt allow me to get the base perfect, but Robs already mentioned the mids, Ill just give it all a gentle boost

yup the bass and kick maybe cover too much of the same territory...maybe a small delay and/or flanger will move the bass a little more??

thanks for listening bro...I hardly recognise anyone in here...dont tell me the clinic is dying a death too? :(

Very Best,

i have no idea to submit anything Dave....I have 6 tracks getting pro mastered just now and another half a dozen to get sent out...I just try and post something similar to a finished product in here, it does get a bit hyped, my cloth ears arent so good

who do you use? Id love someone to pay for my music, even if it was just $1 once, it would make it a bit more worthwhile than just filling up a hard drive :)

thanks for listening and the comments mate..

yeah the style is far slower 105-115...its uses slower house beats mixed with latin percussion...lots of chopped up vocal samples and hi frequency synths...dave nada started the style in in NY back in 2010

dunno if it'll take off

I think Greg mentioned the bass, so its prolly my mix, and im new to this genre so I doubt this is kosher....my second one will be ;)

thanks for listening Steve

Thanks Chuck...throw everything at the wall and see what sticks...I come from the cooked spaghetti school of arranging lol

at least its a little lighter in mood than some of my tracks...which makes me lighter in mood, and protects the neighbours dog...

:D

Regarding the submissions for licensing...there are a bunch of music libraries out there. I've submitted to Pump Audio, and the process was pretty easy. CDBaby also has something as part of their online distribution package, I think. Some other libraries are Louar, AirCraft, and Opus1. I liked Pump because it didn't require me to be an entertainment lawyer to understand how to go through the process. There's no submission fee, the licensing is non-exclusive, and you keep full ownership of your music. The others might be similar - I haven't looked into them yet. However, I haven't had anything placed through Pump so far :o

Very Best,

Actually - lighter mood is a great description - less bombastic - not that there's anything wrong with bombastic haha

I don't know, but I'll be injecting some much needed energy up into this floundering bitch pretty soon. :D

Very Best,

Thanks for the info Dave...Im going to put my album on CD baby so Ill look into it then

tbh it may be the route I'll take, its not likely Ill ever do a gig so this would be a great outlet if there was any chance of success, however small

totally, but it gets a bit grinding after a while, when you spend 80% of your time trying to make noises and only 20% on the melody of the tune it stops being music

I think I might join a band :)

yeeehoooo! been a while since a Greg masterpiece

maybe I need to spend more time in here, maybe the powers that be will let me clean up the cave, i hear they need another mod :D

looking forward to hearing to new one!!

OK so I approached the bass...added a little flange and tweaked the EQ, it moves a little more now

gave one of the kicks a little more sub and room and addressed the mids on the mix overall...I think its sounding better

will take it down to the car and give it a blast

thanks guys :)

Yeah, I think it's definitely better. Right off the bat I can tell it's much fuller.

thanks for checking it out again G, i think it still needs a few tweaks...the guitars a little quiet and one or two smaller parts...cant be arsed, its too sunny :)
