Hey everyone,

I run a small cassette recording label out of the Minneapolis area of Minnesota.

I recently came upon a TELEX Copyette 1&3 (see attached picture) at the local Goodwill for $4.99

It's fun to use. Quick and fairly good sound quality for the kind of stuff we put out.

Anyone have any idea how old this thing is? I'm guessing early to mid 70's. But I'd love to know for sure. Thanks!

Don't know why, but that picture is totally blank for me. I can't see anything.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that we'd love to hear more about your cassette label.

View attachment 71074As for the label, you can check us out here: sunuprecordings(dot)bandcamp(dot)com

We offer free downloads of all our music; but we also dub cassettes with original artwork in plastic cases for a mere $4. Check us out!

Anyone find any info on the TELEX 1&3 yet? Yeah, me either. View attachment 71074

I used to service those machines. They cost thousands new over here. A real pain to work on as they were crammed full of mechanicals and electronics, and hard to dismantle. Replacing the tiny rewind belts was specially difficult as everything had to come out first. I had to really concentrate whenever I replaced rewind belts.
Their main selling points were their great portability and their copying speed.

Probably the main problems yours will have are mechanical issues and head wear. You might do better to find a late model Sony 1 to 3 copier, the square looking one. They had ferrite heads and direct drive reel motors. More reliable than the Telex 1+3 although to their credit Telex made more high spec copiers as well.

Can anyone else see the images? Am I the only one that sees nothing?

I checked out your bandcamp site. Ha! Awesome. Although I might not enjoy listening to everything on there (some I do like though), I'm so thrilled that there's someone out there releasing music like that. :)

uhh... no sure why the image isn't displaying. This is pretty lame; but if you google "Telex 1&3 Copyette" you can view it. It's the greenish gray one with the handle.

For $3.99 I will probably never have this machine serviced. But right now (knock on wood) it works great. Tim, you said you used to service these. Any clue how old my model is?

Famous Beagle, I'm glad you like the site. My personal music site is a little more straight forward guitar/drum music. Also available in cassette format:
