Can anyone identify anything from this pic?

Taken from the Sand Band's home studio, 'the Ether'. Amazing sound on their record, would love to know what they used...I know it was selfproduced and recorded on a Tascam 488 mk II.

I see mics stands, a cymbal, and perhaps a picture of the Beatles. Key ingredients right there



In all serious though, you're probably not gonna get much info from that pic, except maybe just the mics on the stands. This looks more to me like "that corner" where "stuff" goes.

Sorry, can't identify anything specifically... they have some jingle bells over on the seat though, at least that's what I call them..

Those things in the shelves to the right are called 'records' or 'LP's (short for Long Playing)!
It must be a storage area because there is no lava lamp.

I've had a harmonium and tablas in a closet for like 12 years. Maybe ill get them down one of these days now that I know a bit about music.

I've been staring at the thing trying to dredge up the name. I couldn't get past "Mellotron" which I knew wasn't right.

It looks like the third one down on this page Harmoniums If you click on the small pic on the left a much bigger and better one comes up. It looks very similar.

There's some sort of lap-steely/lutey/dulcimery looking thing leaning against the wall that I can't put a name to either...

I bet this guy has one though Atlas of Plucked Instruments

It could be a Lap Slide hybrid that was made up, like this, funny the link I found has a pic of a friend of mine playing, Andrew Winton, he has a great collection of Lap Slide monstors that he plays, check him out playing his 13 string lap Slide.

Wow! Thanks for those links Alan. Terrific playing and very impressive instruments. I couldn't help thinking "Geez, he looks a lot like Tim W..".. but then Google tells me that they're brothers, so that would explain it....

I've enjoyed looking at the pics of your studio down there in Freo too (we used to live bang opposite the E.Freo football ground, but have been in the Hills for over 25 years now). My hobby attic room is not the best space around (scruffy and something of an audio-nightmare) and I've only recently started to try and learn about recording, but it's certainly a fascinating business to explore. As you might say, it's both absorbing and allowing plenty of room for reflection... (Can you tell that I've been reading up on room treatments lately... )

For the fans of "Aussie gossip", I was going to re-organise my very primitive 'studio' space yesterday (vaguely on topic...) - but here's what I ended up doing instead (completely off topic, but still QI - Quite Interesting - to me anyway. Helping put a bushfire out. Never a dull moment when you live in Australia, and I'm happy to report that no Harmoniums or Lap Steels were harmed in the fire....
