About a year ago, I bought an old Astatic Mike from someone on Ebay. It was a crystal mike and I was told that it was a model

I use the same handle and make archtop pickguards but I do home recording on a Korg D1200 and have used various mikes including Nady SCM1000s, Shure 57s and a few others, with good results on vocals.

I searched around and found a guy name Ted Arnold, who has a website and he told me that he would repair the mike for $66.00 and that he had parts for it.

I shipped it to him via priority mail on about August 20th and he received the mike and I am still waiting for the mike.

He sent me priority mail tracking information on the package and I called my local post office. The package was never received by the post office on his end and he assured me that he would refund the money and the value of the mike ($200.00).

When I sell items on Ebay or off, I always make sure that I bring them to the post office, especially if the item is valued at over $50.

He has a website: www.K9toa.net. It appears to be legitimate but he has no phone number at the address where I sent the package and he doesn't answer emails. He stated in one of his emails "I don't have to prove anything to you."

I really don't get this guy but in my opinion, he is a ripoff artist who will steal your goods and your money.

If something gets lost when I ship it out, I make a claim at the post office and refund the money. If the item arrives broken and it is my fault, I refund the money. Sometimes I refund the money if the buyer makes a mistake or isn't satisfied.

Apparently he care about his name or reputation. I just want the mike or the money back and it is a month and half later and I am whistling in the wind.

Let this be a warning to those out there who need repairs done; always use someone who is a known entity and has credentials and a good reputation in the business.

I am certainly willing to change my opinion if Ted Arnold will step up to the plate and will let everyone know about it.

I have a 100% positive feedback rating on Ebay and have sold several thousand items, mostly without incident.

I leave it up to you to decide and welcome your comments.

This will happen if you send your stuff to someone who lives in a van down by the river!!!!

I've never heard of this person but will look him up and report back.

...I would contact the local police in his location and discuss the situation...mail fraud is a felony offense... ;)

You never said whether he gave you a refund for the value of the mic or not. If he did, he's not really a rip-off artist, is he?

I beg to differ here. I have purchased several items from Ted Arnold and he is quite reputable. He items are always inexpensive, of the hightest quality, promptly delivered, and you do receive a money back guarantee. It is always a pleasure to do business with Ted, and I would highly recommend doing business with him for anyone who wants quality products and efficient service.

So you registered here and posted that right away even though it's a three month old post? To find that, you'd have to have searched for Mr. Arnold, either via the search tool here or Google. Why would someone not affiliated with Mr. Arnold be doing that?

"He stated in one of his emails "I don't have to prove anything to you.""
-YES he does. You sent him an item in good faith that at it would be repaired, and sent payment for those repairs. That becomes a contractual affair at this point. He is legally obligated to fill his end of the deal, which includes in my opinion, making sure it gets back to you, or making sure you get your money back. Period. IF he did send it postal service, anything worth ANYTHING should be insured, so if it is lost, damaged, etc. you can open a claim, and eventually recover some losses.

A person with ONE post, backing up someone with whom a member is having a hard time with seems VERY fishy for sure. Go away troll.

looks like Ted needs to make it right and deliver the goods or maybe Lisa has Ted's personal contact info for gitplayer1 (yeah right). you're better off reporting him and making a claim bud. hope things work out gitplayer1.

Ted Arnold - where's my mic?

Hi All,

I came across this thread by googling "Ted Arnold" and now I've registered with HomeRecroding.com just to post this message:

I began corresponding with Ted on 23rd March 2011. To cut a long story short Ted seemed to be very genuine, provided good clear information and convinced me to pay his $375 (incl post) paypal invoice.

He emailed me on 1st April (oh, no I hope that's not it!) 2011 and said:

Hi Jason. The microphone is complete and will be shipped out in the morning. There was a slight delay due to my regular job, but it will be on the way in the morning. Thanks yet again, and hope you enjoy the microphone. Kindest Regards, Ted

I emailed him to say I still hadn't received it and on April 27th 2011 he responded:

Hi Jason. Sorry to hear that it has not arrived yet, I will go to the postal service here and see what I can find out. Hopefully it will get there very soon, but sometimes I think these customes guys just sit around all day! Let me know if it arrives in the meantime. Thanks, Ted

Although concerned, I accepted this. Today (May 5th 2011) I emailed him and then looked at his website contact page to see if I could call. Alarm bells rang...MY MOTHER IS VERY ILL AND AT THIS TIME I AM NOT ABLE TO ANSWER EMAILS, PERFORM REPAIR WORK OR COMPLETE SALES.

I checked the USPS tracking - more alarm bells:
"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on April 02, 2011 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date...."

I'm quite worried I've been scammed here and I'd invite Ted to contact me asap if he's reading this. I will certainly come back and post any outcome, including an apology should Ted deliver my microphone.

Boy oh boy the plot thickens with this story!

You need to sic your local postmaster on this asshole pronto, and it wouldn't hurt to contact HIS local postmaster either.

The incidents cited in this thread can't be the only ones.

The postmaster will give you the forms to fill out and the onto the Big stuff ... for mail fraud is a federal offense with a Hugh fine and mega jail time.

Hope you both have all of your paper work.

Still very curious about this on going story ..... Any update?

yeah.....that would make for a good auction if they confiscated his stuff.
