Interestingly, I think bringing out the rhythm section more gave it a better snap -- more definition. Hence, not as sonic "soup" sounding ... which can lend an aura of "muffled"/dark.

sounds thin ...... needs some bottom end.
Drums are missing in action .... as someone said the snare is there .... the rest of the drums are barely hearable on my puter speakers.

Which version did you listen to, bud? I think the drums are definitely there in the most recent version (o9/29/11).

No prob. Your complaint was a common one with the first mix so I wondered. The 2nd mix's focus addressed just that -- and I tried to make the elements pop better ... kind of like seasoning the sonic soup.
