How to set up monitors?

Sup guys, My setup is coming in a few weeks and I know how to set it all up (well mostly) since I just got out of school for Audio Engineering. But I don't feel like using my headphones all the time to mix. So i've been looking at these little cheap $50 Studio Monitors that would be perfect for my room (since my room is extremely small).

Now, the only they never taught us how to set up at school was the studio monitors. How the hell do I do that? Someone said I need a reciever/power amplifier and speaker wires. But how do I set it all up to my computer?

What the heck did the School of audio teach you?

Computer requires a sound card (interface) to get the sound in and out.
Sound coming out from sound card plugs into the amplifier
Amplifier connects to the speakers (monitors) with speaker leads.

I still can't believe that an audio course would not teach the signal chain from microphone to speakers.

They probably did, but if they did it was in the first couple weeks and I don't remember. But thank you!

Can you shoot me over some links of stuff to buy to set em up? Like the correct amplifiers and such?
 
All the information you need is here on this Forum, just search. Another thought is why don't you forget the $50 monitors (that won't sound any good anyway when we are talking about $50) and buy some powered monitors, then you won't need an amp.

EDIT:
I just looked up about the power amps and stuff, yeah that seems a bit confusing and such. I might just save up a little more and get already powered amps and go from there definitely.
 
yes, as they say...just get some powered monitors, save yourself hassle and time.

KRK, MAudio and a zillion others, sold at all music gear stores.
