Guitar set up.webpRight i have today bought a

"M-Audio Fast Track USB Audio Interface + Pro Tools Essential Software"

but do not like the software at all so I am using REAPER 4 instead.

my signal chain goes like this.....

GUITAR ----> LINE 6 SPIDER III 150HEAD + BUGERA 4X12 CAB -----> M-AUDIO FAST TRACK USB ---------

------->>LAPTOP

laptop specs:

Windows 7 (32bit)
Intel Duo Core @2.44ghz
500GB HDD
4GB RAM

.................................................. ...........................................

everything is installed and set up correctly as far as i cant tell.
but there is nothing coming through the interface at all.

amp + guitar = fine
laptop sound = fine
laptop + speakers = fine

all connected = nothing

nothing registers on the REAPER mixer signals
nor is there any sound when monitoring from the M-audio interface via headphones.

the mic knob is at: 0
the mix knob is at: noon
the output knob is at: 8

if i turn the mic knob up. there is a constant signal recognised on the DAW - obviously not my guitar just constant noise from the mic input/output.

i am totally lost and do not know what is wrong or what i have to do.
i have set up REAPER to use the interface ( following M-Audio's guide to setting up REAPER )

but nothing still.

any ideas guys?
thanks in advance

Leon

Which output from the amp head is going into the interface?

It is the direct output ( heaphone socket )

is this the correct output?

thought it was.

but i still cant figure out why im having no sound through the interface.

What kind of cable are you using to connect the headphone/direct out of the amp to the interface? If it's a balanced TRS-TRS cable you are connecting two incompatible types of TRS connections. Try it with a normal unbalanced TS-TS guitar cable.

im actually using a standard guitar cable at the moment.
and have tested the cable and its working too.

i havent tried any other cable type though.
