Anyone ever use these type II cassettes?

BASF invented the chromium dioxide, type II bias tapes back in the early 70's. So yes, they are type II tapes.

I remember the original formulation from BASF being pretty sucky with high end that seemed to disappear shortly after making the recording. So, considering Emtec is following this formulation to BASF standards, I'd guess they're equally as useless.

Cheers! :)

@ Ghost

Thanks for the reply Ghost.

That is the type of answer I was lookin' for.
Don't wanna spend my hard earned cash on garbage.
I do collect, but usually whatever I collect, I use at least half of 'em.
(usually buy no less than 10 at a time)

Still would like to hear if anyone HAS used this type of tape before,
and the results thereafter.

Just got a killer score for some TDK SA-X 60's (30) for $36.00 usd.

EMTEC CE II Chrome

I recall using one some years back on my 244 4 track. The cassette struck me as being on the cheap side but worked fine. That tape is nothing special, IMO.

I also scored some sealed SA-X cassettes, 49c a pop, in a Thrift store. All were made in Japan. :D

Thanks for weighing in Daniel, ...Now that I heard it from you, and Ghost, that
these tapes are nothin' special....I can now look elsewhere.
I respect both of your opinions,...so, I'm glad I asked before I purchased.;)

And, I thought I got a score with my SA-X's!!!
49 cents!!! I hope you bought all they had to offer at that price!!!
You can definitely future proof your stash at that price!!!
Good for you Brother!!!

Oh yeah,...the ones I just got are also made in Japan, assembled in U.S.A.:D

Not bad! I scored about thirty Maxell XLII60's for 49c each a few months ago.

Don't short change yourself my friend. You've got a good deal as well. :) Yes, I bought out all the tapes and, indeed, those are Japan / USA cassettes. :)

I've found those Thrift stores generally are pretty expensive - they mark their product (especially electronics) way up there but sometimes don't know what they have. That's why the 49c score I guess. :D
