Fender Super-Sonic 22 Combo Review

A pedal is never going to be able to compete with the sound of a good amp. That said $1400 seems maybe a little pricey for a 22 watter. I'm sure it sounds very nice but I'm also sure you can get amps that sound equally as nice for a lot less.

Another point about the review...."not suitable for extreme metal" isn't really a valid con unless you are wanting to record extreme metal, in which case it's unlikely you'd be looking directly at a Fender amp anyway.

I think the 4th foot switch- that by-passes the effects loop- is genius. I think it should have a FIVE button foot switch- if an amp is going to offer two levels of gain, you should be able to access them both via foot switch. Peavey did it, decades ago with their Stereo Chours 212 amp, so why not Fender, why not now?

About the price point. The prices of gear are driven by the market, not by manufacturing cost. When Fender BF amps are bringing several thousands, Fender recognizes that they can ask, and easily get, 1/2 to 2/3rds of those prices for new gear that delivers roughly the same stuff. You wanna vilify someone for the absurd prices of amps, these days? Pick on the museum collectors, not Fender.

and anyway, if you think $1,400 sounds high, check out the MSRP of Fender's Vibro King Custom- $4,999.99

And yeah, I want one.

I had one ...... it really did sound great cranked up. But I require channel switching so I sold it ............. for too little apparently.

Yeah, Lt. Bob, that seems to be a very popular feature, these days.

I could really love the Super-Sonic, I think- only thing it lacks, to my way of thinking/playing, is tube tremolo- but that's just me. I am fruit for tremolo, have passed on some otherwise very fine amps just because they didn't have tremolo.
