Why does this hurt my ears?

that song has been on the radio for years, and the mix sonically is much better than this video.

the video mix is honestly the worst i've ever heard that song.

just my 2 cents.

this is closer to the radio mix. not as much ear piercing high end.

Maybe it has loads of views because people on internet forums are going "hey, look how terrible this is".

It's obvious that tons of people like and buy cookie-cutter music like that. What other reason could there be for literally everything sounding the same now?
 
I personally don't like it, but I would of never viewed the video if someone jealous of another person's success didn't go out their way and bash it on a public recording forum.

Me neither. I've never heard of them before. I personally don't like the music or the mix, but it's not solely because they're a modern band using modern production styles, like some people in here.

Here's some mix techniques for that song:

Cut, copy, paste, quantize, sample replace, compress.
 
yeah this thread went in all types of directions...hate for the band, baby boomers, coffee, morning constitutions, poop...

my 2 cents: I used to like that kind of music, but grew out of it hard.
From a music standpoint, its for some people, its not for others.
from a recording standpoint: sounds like shit, no dynamics, etc.

I wouldn't say the band got bashed. But if they played that in Brixton or Peckham, they would get bashed !
