I think the variable that's missing here is the band mix. As a sweeping generalization (yes there are exceptions) tube amps usually stand up better in the mix and have more cut than solid state amps. IMO, that's why a lot of people still prefer them to SS technology.

Nothing in my post about SS amps- at least not SS on both pre- and power- amp sides. All these amps have tubes where the count the most.
