WOW didn't this go down the drain
So we have covered how the kick is important in a mix, How gregl and miroslav hate each other.
The matter of fact is we are all musicians/engineers/producers here. which involves some degree of creatve protest, no matter how arrogent you are critisism is critisism and it hurts the soul. so stop arguing there is just no point!!
Having read about the relationship between the kick and the bass, I had a mess around and learnt how much difference getting these two in sync makes to the sound. and it appears common opinion that the relationship of these two can make or break a mix. Does it really matter how dominant it is? I think not. look back at all your favorite songs even after listening them 100's of times over you find new things that are so insignificant you never know they are there. however without them, the song wouldnt be as powerful.
I think generally I am in a world of difficulty from recording and playing in the same room means I cannot seem to get the tones I want from the start, getting seriously put of by my serious lack of confidence that I seem to give up a little to easily, as well as maybe having expectations that run far too high then my abilities. From the simple first stage of getting levels right, I seem unable to do it! should I give up as a bad job? or do/have any of you felt the same?
Glen- a while ago you mentioned a "parametric sweep", Is that basically moving across the top and bottom of the frequency spectrum to the extreme to help find the "sweet spot"?
