I'm waitng for the release of 5.5. Its been promised to come out in 2nd. QTR 2010, which is now, and 3rd. QTR 2010 starts in about 12 days.

Its clear that its not ready yet or it would have been released, and
I'm worried that somebody at Steinberg will push to have it released just to show they could meet a deadline. If that happens then all of us will suffer.

I would like them to release it later in the year after the bugs are out of it rather than push it out now just because they said they would.

Two years from now nobody will remember they missed their deadline, but everybody will be painfully reminded of a buggy/glitchy software product everytime they use it and that will stick with people forever.

Please make Cubase 5.5 Mr. Right and not Mr. Right Now.:D

I'm still using SX3 I bought 4-5 years ago.... :)

Your missing out on some awesome shit. You can now export multiple tracks at a time in one shot instead of going file/export multiple times.

That and integrated side chain.

i tried the 5.5 update for studio when it was released a couple of weeks ago... and had to immediately revert to 5.1. it would lock up every time i tried to load a project file. i even tried completely uninstalling cubase and re-installing... which is a chore since i originally bought cubase se3, then got the upgrade to essential 4, then the upgrade to studio 5. even that didn't work. looks like 5.1 is the version for me for the foreseeable future.

I've been on 5.5 for a couple weeks now and it's been no noticeable difference on my mac pro.

I have SX3 and Cubase 4. I was using Cubase VST 24 from 1999 and I would have stayed with that if it would work on OS X.

I was using Cubase 3.1 in 1989 and there are no features added since then that I have used or thought was an improvement. It depends on how you use it I guess.

To me the constant Upgrade Dance is 100% bullshit. They haven't addressed the major problems and keep adding features I don't want. Same with Mac OS.

I'm in the same boat, I would have stuck with SL3 if it worked 100% with intel macs. It didn't so I upped to 5.

Honestly 5 is waaaaayyy more stable than 3 ever was.

maybe it's just a windows thing. i'm now running 7 so maybe that's my problem. good to know everyone isn't having the same issues.

5.5

Hi Mikey, I have been using 5.5 since it was released on Windows 7 and everything is working fine... Just bought EZDrummer and think its awsome....

do you have a 32 or 64 bit system? man, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times before i gave up on 5.5.

That stinks, there has to be a way to get it working. Are you installing 5.5 64bit? Locking up can be alot of things. You may have to tweak windows. Try turning off fancy graphics first.

yeah, i'm running the 64 bit version of 5.1 so i downloaded the 64 bit version of 5.5. i have a pretty high end video card in the system so turning off any graphics bells and whistles shouldn't affect it. i'm not worried about it really. 5.1 works just fine for me for now.
