Returned from the dead
Ok, So I've been using Reaper lately (great DAW BTW) and I'm really liking it. I was recently given some good advice which was "quit geting crap that you don't know how to use". Well I've gotten manuals for the things I do use which have really opened my eyes and I'm thinking that I should probably get a manual for reaper.
Here's the kicker though, while reaper (and it's manual) may be free and supposedly readily available for uncrippled download, the link for their manual refuses to work. So I did some research and the only reaper manual I could find that had a working download link was fairly outdated so I was wondering if maybe any of you happen to have it saved on your PC or have a good link in which I could download it at.
Another possibilty is maybe something in my system isn't agreeing with reaper's download link in which case would anyone be willing to download it for me and send it to me?

Also, Does anyone know of any multiband limiter VST's that are available for download? I did some looking around but couldn't seem to find one

And lastly... Does any one know of a VST that could do this (cause I'm just that lazy)... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAYBpapNj9o
I'm fairly certain that it's called the ghost vocal effect. And knowing how to do some of that stuff in that vid is where that reaper manual might come in handy.
And ftr, in the track that the dude was playing, did the vocal sound like it was out of place to you?

I'm not sure KOP but don't You get the manual only when you pay for reaper?
When did you get the Oriental name We-Todd?

Well maybe... But I have a terrible and shameful secret... I broke the mold,

I didn't buy it :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Seriously, I have no idea whether you get the manual with it or not when you buy it. And I got the nickname yesterday... my oriental hooker gave it to me after I paid her off.

I don't know either. I haven't as yet payed for it myself. And I don't have a manual but everything is laid out so easy.

Oh I see reaper is free.....the manual cost $40,000.:laughings::laughings:

Now see if you stop paying hookers you can pay for reaper ....We-Todd.

Yeah I know everything is laid out but I'd still like to have it.
And I can't stop paying them, by now it's an addiction :laughings:

Yeah let me know what you find out KOP.
That addiction will make you go blind!
Is everyone back from sweatfest yet? I've seen a few pictures. but that's it.

Sorry to change the subject slightly, but is Reaper actually free or does it lock up after an evaluation period?

I don't mind paying for it, but I just wondered.

You can download the uncrippled demo for free. What they mean by uncrippled is there are no hidden features or anything like that just because it's a demo.... it's the full program.
The demo never expires either. The only difference between the demo and the actual purchased program is when you open reaper up, the demo makes you wait 5 seconds before it actually let's you do anything in the program. That's all.

So yeah, basically it's an entire pro DAW for free. It's popular, it has a great user interface... It's just pure awesome.

Does this link work for you?

http://reaper.fm/userguide/ReaperUserGuide360c.pdf (it's a big PDF. right-click > save as)
(taken from http://reaper.fm/userguide.php)

As for the ghost effect:

Right-click TCP > Duplicate selected tracks

on the new track:

Right-click item > Item settings > Reverse active take
Right-click item > Apply track FX to item as new take
Right-click item > Item settings > Reverse active take
Disable effects on the duplicated track

Hit play :)

Make sure your reverb is 100% wet when you set it up, that way you can use the fader for that track to control the effect. You can also quickly disable the effects on the track by clicking the little green button next to the FX button. (or shift-click the effect. Alt+click will remove it)

Reaper is no more free than any other pirated software... They just chose not to put in any protection against piracy.
While the demo does not count days and/or lock the program, you are only allowed to use it for 30 days.

(For very little additional info, go to http://www.reaper.fm/purchase.php and read "No Intrusive Copy Protection" and "Honest Business Model" boxes on the right... And "No Risk" on the left... And the top of the center box... Just read everything :P)

Sweet! Yeah, that worked! And that's the simplest explanation of how to do it I've seen so far.
Great help dude, so far you're the only who's had even a half-assed/half positive response.
:D

What about the warning of you going blind with that addiction? :laughings:

Well yeah that was good, but it can be avoided as long as I stay weary of angry hookers with possible weapons that could cause serious eye injury:D:D:D:spank::spank:
"must spread before giving moresound blah blah blah"

Now about that multi band limiter..... :D

Limiter or compressor?

Oh sorry KOP no idea I've only got a couple of muli band compressors. :o

When you find out about one let me know! ;)

Will do :)

I can't seem to find one. Maybe someone has one hidden up their sleeve ;)

The compressor that came with Reaper (I have an old version still) has a ratio that goes to infinity (like a limiter) and has a selectable band. I suppose if you wanted to make it work on more than one band, you could setup more than one compressor.
