Glad to see some one was paying attention. :)

It was a typo...the real point of my post was that DI boxes don't generally do anything to the signal to create any type of effect...they just convert it.

Though in the end...what comes out of the mic pre is line level.

YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT!

I'm just trying to make the bass track sound like it was recorded with a DI box. You're thinking WAY too hard about this.

Actually...you're not thinking about it hard enough.

You're ignoring what everyone is saying...a DI has NO effect.
The fact that you plugged your bass into your interface in order to record it...THAT IS A DI....so you really don't need any plugs-ins...you're already using a DI! :D

All that stuff you're doing with the plug-ins has NOTHING to do with a "DI effect/sound"...that's just something you're making up on your own because you think it has someting to do with a DI box sound as though there is only "one DI sound" and it applies to every/any bass track.

But whatever....my advice is that you use that "effect" on all your bass tracks from now on. ;)

Hey dude...so maybe ya don't get upset over some of this...
part of the correction of terminology and translations you're getting here is for the new guy (as well as you ;) ) that comes along a year from now and does a search. He finds this and has a question or two answered before he even posts.

S'all good man. :)

Dogbreath knows.
Heed his words.
He's the psychic's sidekick....:D

I just use this. And usually a high pass filter in the mix...

To the OP:

Can you post a sample? Of the bare DI (sorry, NOT di ;) ), and the processed signal?

Dude, I wrote a DI-Box emulator VST plugin. You should hear it, sounds totally vintage. I don't feel like compiling it though, so here's the source code:

output = input;

.....just bustin' your balls a bit. :laughings:
