I have not looked at Cool Edit Pro for many years, and I hardly remember it, so someone may turn up with a better answer.

But, is there an option somewhere for "Internal" or "External" Sync, if the setting is for "external Sync" maybe the software is not locking to the internal digital clock.

This maybe in the preferences or there may be an icon along the top menu bar that you click.

Cheers

Alan.

No settings have been changed

I'm at work right now so I can't check my settings, however I didn't change any settings from when it used to work. So something else must be causing this problem, not a setting. It was working fine before so I would never have changed something that already works well. That's the part that perplexes me.

Hi there,
I'd post this in the Cool Edit forum but it doesn't look like anyone has been in there for a while so I really hope someone can help here...

Equipment:
- PC Windows XP platform with Realtek AC97 Audio Card
- Cool Edit Pro 2.0 (I know, I know)
- Behringer Eurorack MX 2004A mixer with stereo outs plugged into computer line-in
- Sure SM57 and CAD condensor drum mics

Problem:
- I recorded a good sounding drum track today. When I go to record guitar on a separate track, upon playback the guitar and drums are in sync at first, but then the guitar gradually falls completely out of sync from the drums. This is not a player's tempo issue either. Drums were recorded using a click and guitar was recorded while listening to drums through headphones.
- The thing is, I have ALWAYS been able to record multitracks fine with absolutely no sync issues, and now suddenly this is happening. I did not make any changes to my settings whatsoever. I have done nothing differently for this to happen.

Troubleshooting I already tried with no success:
- I tried recording onto a different track
- I tried restarting cool edit and trying again
- I tried rebooting my computer and trying again
- I made sure I had no other programs running as to not disturb or take up too much CPU

If you have any suggestions or fixes please let me know. This project is suppposed to be a surprise for my fiancee and this wasn't supposed to take more than today to finish. Please help!

Sincerely,
Jay

try posting the question in a single forum.
You're now likely to receive a lot more complaints about posting the same question in four freakin' forums  than you will advice.
Good luck though ..... someone MAY come along with some help. I'm strictly analog so I can't.

Lt Bob is right. Please post your question in only one forum instead of bombarding the boards. If you don't get responses that's because no one has an answer. I tried to move your replies to this thread, but looks like things got a little mixed up.

So mixed up that it looks like I asked the question?

Lol

Alan

There is an option in CEP's settings to "correct for drift in recordings", checking that might help you.
