Would you be in the mood to do some tweaking of my Teac X-7 if I posted them? And I know I'm asking a lot but if I uploaded some pics of my DBX units can you put them with the 38? I'll be waiting for your reply. Thanks.

Sorry I missed this post of yours when you posted it a couple of days back or I would have responded earlier!

About the shots you have, the bigger they are, the more of a chance I'll have to work with them successfully so rather then posting them here, all compressed to hell, email me the originals if at all possible and try to send me shots that show the entire unit with no cut off corners or horrible shadows or hot spots from ugly flash reflections...I'm a picky SOB, eh! :D

Another special thanks to sweetbeats for sending me some pictures of his 388 earlier today! I received several shots and hopefully can turn a few of them into some decent Studio 8 wallpaper shots for you guys!

That's incredible, Jeff...just incredible. I mean, I know my 388 is looking pretty good, but the one in your edited versions, especially the first one, look...better than new. Wow! I've got the first one as my desktop now and I'm not a desktop image kind of guy...any way I can get an order in for a higher res copy?

Of course, a lot of the credit belongs to you for not only taking a decent enough picture of your gear but more so for being so adept at restoring these aging hunks of technology! :cool:

Oh-oh...I like that one better than the first...I'm putting in my order for I hi-res copy of THAT one...where's...where's the order form...eh?

That's an awesome shot. I remember being stationed at Whiteman AFB in the early eighties and used to buy from a music store in Blue Springs, Mo that sold a lot of high-end stuff. This was brand new at the time and the price for a two striper was astronomical at the time. I bought my first ever pro mic from that place for a paltry (by todays value) $400 brand new. A Sennheiser MD-441. I spent a months rent and utilities on that mic.

God I remember those days. Drooling all over that pro and semi-pro equipment that I couldn't afford until 20 years later and after it was already considered obsolete by most. I remember the 38's, 48's, and 58's they had in the 'pro' room. They didn't let just any swingin' dick in there, but I was a regular by then and they let me in the room to look bright eye'd at all the stuff I couldn't afford back then.

I think many of us have that kid in a candy shop story too! Me included! :D

I remember the first time I saw an MS-16 at a trade show. They had it all wired up in a synchronized set up with some Sony U-matic VTR decks and were demonstrating how it it could be used for audio sweetening in the rapidly expanding video industry. I remember thinking I had walking in a NASA laboratory as everything seemed so spaced aged amazing looking! :laughings:

They had 4 different technician/engineers in lab coats running all the stuff and I was mezmerized...like a kid in a candy shop. :D

Thanks and absolutely, yes, send me as high as resolution shot as possible of your 80-8 to;

And I'll turn it into a wallpaper shot for you and the community here.

Please ensure that the shot is in focus, shows the entire machine, meaning not cut off corners and without any large hard shadows or flash blown out hot-spots...if you don't have one shot with that criteria, please take a fresh one with those criteria covered. And try to compose the shot from a decent looking angle, similar to the ones used here in this thread.

There are already shots of the 38 in this thread. But, send me what you've got and I'll see if there's something worth of working on.

What we are missing is some nice 52 shots! Send me some of those!!!!!!!!!

Be glad to. I just unpacked both decks last night. I have to find the takeup reel for the 52.

Might be late tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Does the background matter? I mean, is one type of background easier to edit out than another?
