Newbie-like Rackmount question

I don't have tons of outboard gear . . . but someday I will. It seems though, that always getting back behind your racks to repatch would be a major PITA. I'm assuming that a patchbay was made for this reason . . . but I don't know. Am I close?

Patchbay would probably be your best bet.

I never thought i would need one and I hated the thought of them but soon enough I'm going to have to buy 1 or 2 balanced bays.
