I have purchased a zoom r16. With that came this cubase le4 software. I cannot succesfully get this program working. I intend in the future to upgrade to a larger program, but being a beginner to recording, I want to progress and upgrade later. In that means a new computer, but i have allready invested enough for now. I am running the zoom to my pc with rokit 6 monitors. I have all the products installed, i can give and receive sound. Everytime I play however, it starts at different times, I get nasty distortion, echo effect or cubase freezes with no attached notice. I first spoke to the tech support at zoom, they referred me to update my ram to more then 1G of ram. I went and bought the highest for my toshiba satelite pc and upgraded to 2 G from 512. Assuming this would take care of the problem, went for the plug in play, and again the same. It is not the intruments. I have a warwick bass running through a trace elliot xlr out to zoom, and also a roland drum kit. No matter what instruments same thing. It is not the interface, because when it is not connected i get a great result. Doing more reasearch i got rid of anything i could on the pc, that was not neccesary for anything, but this. Tried again in failed. I do not want to spend another grand++++ on a pc, what can I do. All my adapters have been upgraded. Helo Please.................

Calling Teysha Blue...

Teysha Blue is the knowlegeable one for the R16. Cubase now has an online unlock setup. You must register with Steinberg and they will download and unlock code to your system. It can be used once and on one computer only. If you have to reinstall, you will need a new code, etc.

Couple things to try that may or may not help... Download Reaper and try that instead of Cubase and see if you have the same troubles. Also, go into the BIOS of your computer and disable the onboard soundcard in your laptop.

Maybe reinstall Cubase?

Sometimes that works. Also is there an audio setup window on the computer that needs to be set to the same sample rate etc as Cubase?

BTW the other day I successfully ran Cubase LE on a Mac using OS 10.4.11. It was an Apple clamshell G3 iBook that's 300MHz and has 192 MB RAM, if you can believe it, and it was able to record and playback stereo 24 bit recording. I was amazed at that.

I believe it Im successfully running cubase on an imac. I can run over 35 tracks w/o any problems.

i have pretty much every setting i can find deleted. I have removed my anti virus program, sound cards, wireless cards, start up programs, etc.I can get things going, usually around when i add the third track it freezes or distorts. Thanks everybody. Dont know if there is any other solution, then a new pc. boo............

Sorry I'm late to the thread.:(
What's your OS? I'm running Vista and the only drivers I could find that worked were the ASIO4ALL. Download and install them. That'll probably get you up and running. Note, there are no drivers for a 64bit OS yet...so if you're running 64bit, yer screwed.

Also, be sure you have unplugged any wireless USB devices...wireless mouse for example. These can and will cause issues.
