first let's start with how you have things set up. The mic you are using...is it a condenser? If so, do you have the 48V phantom power turned on?

Second, are you plugging in via XLR?

Third, what is your input set to on your mono audio track?

Thank you...

Switch over to the mixer window on pro tools and make sure the track you have armed for recording is selected on input 1. When you create multiple new mono recording tracks generally the second track gets set to Input 2.

Hope this helps

I had experienced the same problem and I posted it in here, never really got a real response. But everytime this happened to me, it was after I booted or rebooted my MAC. Everytime I did that and opened up Protools, it would recognize the Mbox2, I could hear my mic through the mbox2, and the track was armed etc.....But protools was not receiving the signal and it was not triggering the meter in the mixer or edit windows.
What I still do, because this still occurs, is after I open up Protools I unplug my Mbox2 and replug it in. After that, it works with no issues. I figured my problem was MAC and timemachine related, but my Time machine is turned off and I still have this issue. So anyting anyone can suggest will be appreciated, until then I will keep utilizing my unplug method.......

check your i/o setup in the setup menu and make sure that input 1 in pro tools corresponds to input 1 on your mbox. and if you're plugged in via xlr make sure that its not set to DI input

none of the above worked, Could it just be that my mbox is messed up?

Have you tried playing with the "Mix" knob on your mbox?

I'm currently having this same problem with GarageBand on my Mac. It sometimes doesn't pick up the Mbox for recording input. Reboot usually gets it but it keeps happening. Could be the USB cable perhaps. I'm thinking of replacing mine since I also have a high freq. tone when sound is output through the Mbox. Is there a better quality USB cable? The one that comes with Mbox looks cheap...may not be but???

Im also having a same problem..
When I plug in my mic, there is a sound detection thru the headphone... but there is no mic singal detect at the PT 8 im currently using.

And when im playback a stereo file thru the PT, there is a signal but there is no output from my headphone..

Hope anyone can help...
