It's the smell..
Alrighty. The last mix I posted leaned pretty much to the left. I've got a work in progress that seems to be better centered....at least I hope it is. Give it a listen and tell me if it's reasonably centered to you or not.

The tune is still in the rough development stages...lots of slop in the piano and bass lines, but I aint done with it yet.:o

Thanks for your ears!

It does sound a slight little bit lopsided, Teysha, but I wasn't bothered , it's hardly noticable. Only thing that bothered me was that side-stick in the beginning, sounds too much like a metronome. Otherwise, pristine recording and wonderful musicianship.

Joey :):):):)

Sounds nice to me!
The playing is solid and cool.
The mix is well centered, albeit with a little more reverb than I like.

One of these days when I get a little time, I need to plead with you to have pity on me and let me knock out some real drum tracks for you.

Heck...I am just down the street from you.

Rats! Which direction is it leaning?:(

Yeah that side stick is too freaking loud at the beginning. I need to bury that a bit. Thanks, amigo.

Mansfield? Shoot that's within spittin' distance!:D

I would totally dig some live drum tracks. Lemme finish this arrangement....it just vaporizes after about 3 minutes. I gotta cogitate on it a bit more before it finishes itself. Thanks for the listen....I appreciate the time!

on my system it's the right side, but I may have the channels inverted as opposed to yours.
But really, it is hardly noticeable. If you hadn't mentioned it I probably wouldn't have noticed. I don't think you need to worry about changing anything, it's good the way the way it is. And with real drums it'll be perfect.;)

Oooh, nice atmosphere! I think the lead line could come up just a smidge, or give it a little edge so it "cuts" better"... LOVE the changes. Love them. This would be a gas to play bass too, if you want someone's input...

Damn, this is nice. A little Benson, a little Russell Ferrante. Hmm. Tasty drum sequencing, even.

You're very talented and a very nuanced player. A respectful tip of the hat from a fellow "smoothie"...

Damn. That was memorably sweet.

Thanks for the listen! I appreciate the comments. It's definately a work in progress, but I've been obsessing over the out of balance mix issue so much, that I just had to see if I've got things adjusted and my ears retrained and compensating. I've got more work to do on this...but it literally seems to be writing itself. When I've got a handle on the final arrangement, then I'd like to talk to you about some bass work.:)

Very tasty as always, dude. It sounds centered enough to me. On my system here, the bass is distorting until about 1:30. The early cymbals sound like they're getting cutoff at the tail (compression?). I think you could nudge up that organ a smidgen, too. Nice stuff. Who's on the guitar?

Thanks, Don! The mix is nowhere near done...heck, I haven't even finished the tune.:D My real concern was the soundfield balance. Looks like Iight have a handle on it now.:o. The guitar was moi via the G6. Thanks for the listen, amigo.
