Anybody have a lead on a pair or have some spares to sell? Mine bit the dust after fixing them a few times. Just need the hubs, not the whole table assembly. Did a Google search and found a pair on EBay but wanted to try here first. Help a old analog head out.............please? Thanks for looking!

PS- If anyone can point me to a pinch roller (beside EBay), I'll.....uh....um...be you best friend!:D

Thanks again,

Jerry!

Call Teac Parts Jerry...(323) 727-4840. They have stock of the 1/2" hub adapters for cheaper than eBay.

Probably the same for the pinch roller.

If they don't have stock on the pinch roller get the price anyway. If it is more than about $45 send your pinch roller to Terry Witt. He does excellent work, has a fast turnaround and its about $45 including shipping both ways. A reliable class-act.

Have you actually tried Tascam Spare Parts, the last time I bought some from them (some time ago) they were not too expensive, and they were brand new!

Try them also for the pinch roller.

Cheers

Alan

Terry Witt does an awesome job on pinch rollers. I have three of his.

Tanks!

Just called Tascam, hub adaptors were $17 each (got 2) and the pinch roller was about $30. $72 with shipping. Kinda surprised they had the hub adaptors in stock. Thanks again to all! Guess ya'll are my best friends now!

Before you scour junkbay for parts and things always try Teac first.

It's kind of funny what Tascam charges for some things, particularly when compared with sellers on eBay who are selling them new (perhaps taking your money and then placing on order with Tascam? I don't know). I just called to ask about an extra pinch roller for my MS-16, but they want $125. I have a spare in rough shape, so I'll be going the repair route.

You never know with Tascam and Prices, also what is in stock. However it's always worth giving them a ring.

The parts scenario is a bit like this I think:

Tascam would not manufacture all parts in house, they would get outside contractors to make some parts as these manufacturers would be tooled up for this type of production. So parts made by Tascam would be cheaper and probably in stock where by parts that were originally made outside would have a small stock level and when they run out would cost more to reproduce (if they decide to make any more). Try getting a price and availability for a Dolby S noise reduction circuit board (originally made by Dolby for TAscam) for a MSR16S and see what I mean, I ended up buying a whole 2nd machine of eeebay for the price of the board and I use the 2nd machine for parts.

I have bought rubber rollers from Tascam for the MSR at a reasonable price in the past so the MS-16 price could reflect low or no stock, if they are made outside Tascam, TAscam may have to order 100 to get them made.

I deal with spare parts for large machinery outside my music carrier and this is not uncommon.

Cheers

Alan.
