After the Burning VIDEO Mach 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5ExeiHm6o8

Whilst waiting for the vacation to begin I filled in a little time.
On the 9th attempt I managed to upload a better sounding replacement.
Have a squiz & let me know what you think.

OT - They should install better lines to NSW, it must frustrate the heck out of you.

Another thought provoking video that follows the music well. That burning person on the street is pretty horrific! Sound quality is not that bad considering. I'll keep an eye out for the Super upload.

Vacation eh? Well take some time off and enjoy your rest!

Just checked out the latest version - sounds and looks great!:cool::cool::cool:

Didn't know this song from you, Ray. Glad I've listened to it now, it's really good. And the video compliments it really well. Mix sound snice too, maybe a bit more lows in the bass.....
Voice is very well-captured (Terry?) and the jingle-jangly gits sounds good.
Nice work!

Joey :):):):)

You're right Joey: credit where credit is due:-
RAMI plays superb drums/percussion on this
Ido1957 plays the excellent solo - (though this isn't his preferred take it matched the vid better).
Terry Berman wrote the melody & sang the main & b vox.
Unfortuantely, for the tune & vid, I did the rest.
Thank you to all concerned - it was a couple of years ago now - how time flies when you're as old & senile as me?

Ah, I remember this. Well done, ray, good choices on the imagery! I liked the guy at 3:32, that was cool...

Great colab Ray, Rami's drumming, Gerry's solo, Terry's vocals and your own PygmyBeat touch! For sure-another winning tune.....

I've checked this out a couple of times since you posted this, but forgot to leave word...

This is one of my favorites of yours over the years, so good just to hear it again. The video moves along pretty well. Cool images you've selected and they certainly help spell out where you're at with the lyrics and everything.

Nice job on this ray - thanks for sharing :).

I like yer videos. What did you use to make this?

I was about to ask the same...

the Buddhist monk burning is one of the most disturbing things Ive seen...geez people and there faith puzzle me

good song, went well with the images...I wish Youtube had better sound..there must be another way of hosting stuff like this

Casey & kcearl,
It was put together in Windows Movie Maker - VERY easy.
BUT, I've found that a 192 MP3 is the best quality it can handle without GIGs of RAM. I started with a 320 for the most recent flick & had enormous problems. Swapped the ausio for 192 & alll was easy again.
As a result the audio quality is compromised from the get go.
Also the prog prefers WMV files in construction so I convert the flvs etc I get from the net into that format using Super (which is definitely the proof of nominative determinism).
The end result is then saved & converted in Super to FLV for upload (due to my slow upload speed - nominally 256 but actually 17kb/sec). Add the conversion of the Utub streamer & there are serious quality issues.
I've also converted the results from the finished, saved WMV to files suitable for VCD & DVD.
It's fun though.

i love this song, joy division & midnight oil float around in it:D

CTOName,
Well picked. JD are a big influence on me & I'd have loved it if Terry could've produced that baritone - even Curtis had to cheat to get it though. I used to see Midnight Oil quite a bit before they'd released their 1st (&still best) LP.
Heatmiser,
thanks for your generous words.
Anfotan,
that's collaboration for you: it always helps to get the stars in!
Llarion,
Yeah, I was struggling to find something that actually stepped right out of the words & tehre he was!
Thanks folks. I quite like this track & it's the 1st time in a while that I've produced a full set of lyrics on my own. Fortunately Terry came up with a good melody to carry them on.
Cheers
ray

oh gosh you are lucky, the first time i saw midnight oil was on t.v. at my grandma's house when she was babysitting and remember it vividly, seeing pg on that cracked ocean desert you have going on in australia to blue sky mine

interestingly enough the town i lived in when i first saw them was an oil town, & it died an oil town death

it always stuck with me & then they sort of disappeared in my life and came back later and i became so addicted i even have a fridge magnet of the oils on my fridge right now if that tells you anything lol) sadly i've never been able to see them live, and don't think i'll ever have that chance:(

it's hard for me to say which is my fave cd of theirs

i came to know jd recently through a friend and love them too, and realized the oils had to be partially influenced by them

aside from all of that i love your song:D

glad this got bumped back up - I went looking for it the other day, but got interrupted before I found it.

I love the jangliness of the guitar and the choppiness of the old black and white footage (or is it just my internet connection?) - rhythmically very nice together, like in your other video that I saw.

You're right ;) It's not my favorite take - it's similar note-wise but not as good as the other version. Mostly to do with the accuracy of the bends. I think I did 72 takes of the solo  before I found two or three that I thought were worthy of the track. I think this was the one I redid after the fact. In any case it was a pleasure to partake on this fine tune!
