So just remind us again. Who started the neg rep thing?

Listen fella, you have had plenty of chances to turn it around instead you insist on just posting juvenile retorts and neg rep to anyone that requests you post evidence or just stop posting the same stuff over and over. You can hardly be surprised when it's reversed.

What goes around come around.

Good Bye.

I dont have to turn anything around, I am doing just fine without you and your cronies approval. ViP:p

See you doing it again now. You are one hell of troll I'll grant you that and if thats the case carry on and I'll just carry on pwning you. If you want to learn and exchange information and opinions then recognise that some have areas of expertise that far out way any of your singular observations.

Good bye.

You havent demonstrated in any way that talcum powder does anything you claim. I have demonstrated for years to myself and everyone around me in real life. I am new to this whole internet forum nonsense. My friends, band members, and customers think my guitars and work are the best. Word of mouth around here goes a long way. Are you really that ignorant or is this just a way to pass the time?

I remember hearing about boiling strings back in the 60s so it's been around for a while. I normally just wipe off my strings after playing with a soft cloth which helps the longevity.

Has anyone ever tried using Caig De-Oxit wipes on their strings after playing? For those who might not know De-Oxit is mainly marketed as a chemical to clean, de-ox, preserve and increase conductance of electrical connections - switches, battery terminals, etc. I have heard of using it on guitar strings after playing to, at the very least, slow down the corrosion due to body oils and such. I can see in theory how it might work and prolong string life.

Also, WebStrings sells strings for around $3 a set. Tried some on my acoustic and was quite happy with them. Got a set on my Rick which I've been happy with also.

I actually had what Caig calls Axe-Wipes. I tried them and noticed they dulled the sound immediately. I dont put any chemicals on my strings anymore. I used up the Axe-wipes as metal polishing cloths.

Yet again you completely miss the point. Truly amazing.

I haven't made ANY claims about talc on strings - you have.

I have pointed out why it's a bad idea supported by evidence including, materials science, physics and musical acoustics, in which I have a degree and a doctorate in two of those subjects. The other is closely allied.

You haven't provided any evidence other than your own observations and refuse to enter into a debate when challenged to debate it from a evidential perspective. You have done that in numerous threads so far.

Others have told you the same and your response has been to hand out insults and neg rep. Hey that's fine but don't chuck your toys out the pram when it comes back at you.

Don't worry about my time and effort in all this. I'm kicking back after a hard day in the workshop MAKING GUITARS and am enjoying a beer and a chat on the interwebs with some of my mates. I don't normally enjoy others misfortune but in your case I seem to be making an exception.

How about if I record my 2 Martins(with the 13 month old talcum impregnated strings) in my recording studio and post it here for all to hear?
You dont seem to understand, I have no misfortune!

I'd be more than happy to listen to some recordings of your guitars and playing but what would that prove?

"I tried talcum powder and that worked temporarily, but got gunky"

"Many players have also used talc powder, but this gets in the windings of the strings, deadening them."

They're just two quotes lifted off the search page from google, I haven't gone
into the links but it's just an idea. Personally, I don't want my strings/hands
to be gunky while I'm playing and I most certainly don't want my strings to
be deadened.

If you read it on the internet it must be true, eh? :D

I have been putting a little talc on my hands when I play for about 30 years and neither of those things has ever occurred. It works for me; YMMV.

Oh, I've done the same in the past to dry my hands but I don't think there was enough residue on them to get much in the strings.

I have found that keeping a travel pack of baby wipes in my miscellaneous gear bag is great for cleaning the dirt and oils off my hands.

Hmmm, maybe I should try those on the strings, too........;)

I did and I'm quite happy to state it again. He's the second here that I've negged and I felt fully satisfied after.:D

I leave it to you but some times you just got to.

Ahhhhh.

Lol, that's tight, guys. He's got what, seven million negative rep points now?

He's just argumentative and wrong - not a douche. :p

It's no worse than putting a humbucker in a strat. :D
