Boiling your strings

Why not? Have you ever tried it? There's all these naysayers saying that chainsaws are bad for guitars, but have you had any experience with it yourself? ;)


What Muttley said, basically - we'd have no problem letting it go if you wouldn't bring it up in every thread you could.

How can you be expected to have any credibility with responses like that?

Yeh, and you'll find if you lubricate the chain bearings with talc it will run a lot quieter and smoother too.
 
I'm thinking of starting a thread about tarring and feathering my guitar.

I did it, it now sounds like a chicken :D

Did you you put talc on it first? I hope so or that tar is gonna get in the strings something rotten.:p

That's only if it's regular. Free range T+F'd guitars don't need talc. My guitars
free range :cool:
 
powder on strings

I have been observing the pissing contest that has been posted on this forum arguing the use of powder on a guitars fret board.I decided to embark on an experiment.I have a Martin HD35 and a 58 Les Paul I used the powder in question on my hands before playing and haven't found any premature string loss.So,maybe Jeff Beck,The Kinks,Keith Richards and now Victory Pete might be on to something.---more research to follow----Happy picking-keep your mind open--talk to you in a month or so-Dana

On your hands isn't exactly what we're talking about, although I have posted
that it has been said to get a little messy doing it like that. This is about putting
the powder directly on to the strings.

PLEASE don't experiment with that one... :D
 
I filled all my guitar cases with talcum powder and am storing my guitars that way. This is much less expensive than CHANGING MY GODDAMN STRINGS. :rolleyes:

I haven't hit him yet. I've got him on ignore so it's much more pleasant.

I did and I'm quite happy to state it again. He's the second here that I've negged and I felt fully satisfied after.:D

I leave it to you but some times you just got to.
 
This is what I use on my guitar strings. It lubes the strings and conditions the fretboard at the same time.
