lol just gate, then compress, and add some reverb FX to the drums + vocals, and take down the 1-3kHz a tid bit.

Odd...as in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc...

I was a joke.:rolleyes::D
oh ok I thought you just meant 7 was a stupid amount of mic to use

I think the biggest problem for me with drums is I really need new heads but I am not in the position to buy new ones. I have been sampling my drums I would rather learn the do it without sampling but I think I need to buy some new heads first

Also from listening to the song, there seems to be a lack of lowend bass to the mix.

I agree I tried to cut some of the lows to try and bring the mix up louder I know there is another way to do so but I haven't learned it yet

No prob,I have been there and done that. The last places to cut low end is the kick drum and bass guitar; reduce everything else first.

But above that, remember never comprise your mix for volume. I would rather listen to a great mix at a lower volume than a loud mix that I want to turn off after the first several measures of the song.

Keep at it and ask many questions (use the search feature too); there are many great members here who are more than willing to help those who are willing to learn.

thanks man. I don't know what it is but sometimes when I record I get a decent volume right off but some of then man I have to fight with them I mean the volume being really low

Start doing research on how to use compressors. Treating excessive dynamics at the individual track levels will provide you the headroom to have a louder and smoother mix.
