I was gonna say Elvis Costello or Frank Zappa just to piss off Light or Muttley but then I decided to really stick my neck out and go with Robert Johnson. Even with the help of Old Scratch himself the guy just doesn't deserve his reputation.

Go ahead, although it's not really going to piss us off as light and myself we're debating their cool factor rather than their guitar playing. I also think the whole Johnson thing has to do with the capturing of the historical context as much as his ability or merit as a songwriter or musician. It could just as easily have been someone else who went down in musical folk lore if they'd found themselves in the same situation. Dyeing young and being at the peek of your exposure at the time certainly helps in promoting your image and mystic though. Many have achieved that much.

A lot of it is quite relevant to your average player even if it's just to rule out it's impact to your situation. I teach this stuff to degree level students so I might make too many assumptions about others level of awareness.

Musical acoustics one semester a year. I do it because I had to when I was doing my Masters and still do because it gets me out of the workshop one day a week for a few months a year. I enjoy it.

If your doing music tech or music instrument tech it will almost certainly be a core module or requirement. It's the foundation for so much of the wider subject.
