I'm currently searching out a service manual for my new acquisition, the Akai GX-32 but in the mean time I'd like to know where is a good online place to buy "off the shelf" cassette deck parts such as pinch rollers, belts etc.... etc.... Actually I've found one but would like your comments.. Yes / No?

Thanks for all your input.:)

I tried to buy from them with a gift-style fixed-balance credit card (I don't have a real credit card ;) ) and it kept getting declined. That's MasterCard's problem though, and the guy who runs that site was good about it.

This place seems good, but they don't have any pinch rollers, as far as I can tell.

Can Terry rebuild pinch rollers from cassette decks? I know I've had him do some for my reel to reel decks. As far as belts, if they are getting hard to find, is there another brand/model of deck that uses the same belt? It's kind of like me finding out that the Pioneer RT-909 deck uses the same capstan motor as a Tascam 38.:D Made my day!

I'll have to look on my other computer for some more places. I've got a crap-ton of bookmarks for various tape related sites.

I think it best [and probably cheaper] if I find a new roller, if possible, 'cause it might cost quite a bit to get Terry to do it, if even possible.

The 909 and 38 share same belt? Wow! That's freaky!:D;)

That deck of mine probably shares similar parts as others but it's still uncharted territory for me and serves me right for going with real sleeper gear, like nobody knows about 'em..:D

Actually here's a photo of it + specs:

I don't know about the belt, but the motors are the same.;)

You may have already found these, but I did a quick search and turned up with this:

http://www.user-manuals.com/service-manual-AKAI-GX32.html

http://www.akai.owner-manuals.com/GX32-service-manual-AKAI.html

http://www.manuals-in-pdf.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=akai+gx-32+manual&forward=plist

Granted, they all want $15 for the pdf, but as a last resort, they are there. Hell, I've got two Akai cassette decks in storage (climate controlled of course) that I can't remember the model numbers of. I think one is a GXC-635 and the other is a low end model.

Thanks for looking up those links for me. I have no issue spending a bit of money on a service manual but it would have to be a well done copy and I'm unsure of those places. I wonder what the quality is like..

Anyway, thanks again.:)
