Here's one I think is ready for critiquing. I have a tune in mind, but nothing recorded as of yet, so just lyrics for now....

Old-Fashioned Christmas
© J.D. Blessing 2007

Unplug the television
Turn off the radio
Light a fire in the fireplace
Look out the window at the snow
Gather near your loved ones
Put a turkey on to roast
Tell stories of your memories
That have affected you the most

Chs:
Give me an Old-Fashioned Christmas
Like the ones we used to know
Life passes too quickly
So let’s take it slow
Give me an Old-Fashioned Christmas
With family and friends
To bring back the meaning
Of Christmas again

Sit around the table,
Hold hands and say a prayer
Thank the Lord for those around you
And those who couldn’t be there
Tell each of them you love them
Explain to them just why
Then raise a toast for times to come
And times that have come by

CHS

Read the Christmas Story
And marvel at the Birth
Of the baby whose name was Jesus
That brought Hope back to the Earth
Pass out simple presents
That were stacked beneath the tree
Each picked out and wrapped with love
And opened so merrily

CHS

Nice song poem JD. A couple minor changes I might make:

"And talk about the good times
That you remember most"

"And times that have gone by"

Wonderful suggestions...I was struggling with that first line, and didn't catch the come/gone fix. Rep points on their way.:)

Great theme/excellent lines...

The meter is pretty good although there are a few spots where there appears to be an extra or a missing syllable. That's where editing comes in when applying the music, so I'm sure you'll make a few minor changes to tighten it up.

You better hurry - in retail, October is the deadline for Christmas CD's!!! :D:cool::D:cool:
