Best regards to whomever is reading this thread haha.

First of all, let me give you some background:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been a bass player for about 7 years, however I am exploring another side of me right now, which is animation.

This way I can draw, write, direct, animate, act and of course, make music.

Since I do not have plans on profiting (is that even a word?) from this, I decided to keep it "simple". Nevertheless, I think my guear should give me better results. And this is where you experts come in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

GUEAR (currently in use)

Mixer: Alesis Multimix 8 USB (no 2.0 available, no multitrack recording needed, so I bought this one).
Mic: Shure Prologue (don't know the model, although it reads "14H HIZ").
Software: Cool Edit Pro 2.0
OS: Windows XP Home (I know, I know...)

ISSUE

So I got ready to rumble after installing/plugging/etc. The recording quality is practically noiseless, which I really liked. I also liked what I heard on the headphones, it was all going perfect. The problem is, when I hear what I recorded using my speakers, things get tough. I have to crank it all up so I can barely hear it.

I know there is something I'm doing wrong since I've seen quite a few "Multimix 8 USB happy customers" using this same guear for podcasting (excluding the mic). Would you please point out my obvious newbieness and get me out of this pickle?

Haha I think I try a little too hard here... I'll try to keep it simple next time.

first bat why the guano for brains??? theres no "U" in gear... dont know why that bothers me so much...lol..

as to the rest of it... sounds like you need to adjust the level of the signal as it's being recorded by cool edit... sorry i dont use that so cant tell you where exactly it is but look for a channel representation that says something about input... as opposed to output which would adjust the level for mix down... follow me??? good luck..

Well, thanks for the reply. I've just noticed there is a Cool Edit Pro forum, what I want to do is make sure WHERE and WHAT is the problem.

By the way, about the "guano for brains" no offense taken, although in my defence, I am not a native speaker. I also flip when I see a misspelled word in spanish haha.

BR!
