So should I hold off my payment until we sort this out or just go ahead and pay for my items including the China-US shipping?

there are no shipping charges added to the invoices as of yet...

as i understand it, that will come later... after the stuff is made

so, yes u could go ahead and pay now, u guys will have 2-3 months to work out shipping details

I was under the impression that the shipping from China to the US was built into the cost that we were paying for these units.

Yes, That's also as I understand it. The issue is with shipping from USA To AUS. It's very expensive and if we received our orders direct from China to 1 location we would only have to worry about local postage.

Based on my calculations even if everyone added the roughly 18% import costs to their order we would all still save money.

Chance is waiting for some information from China before he knows if it's feasible or not. I have given him the rough numbers so far.

Cheers

yrdbrd,

We're talking about the inbuilt charges for shipping ex China, not the additional shipping ex the US.

Guys, thanks for this.

I'm going to do some sums in order to compare shipping direct from US Vs. drop ship from China. At the mo, based on a guesstimate of shipping weight, USPS EMS will cost me $178 to Brisbane. Hefty, but bearable.

In order to calculate GST, we need to factor in shipping costs. Given that we're shipping from China in bulk (possibly), how will this work?? Do this proportionally based on a ratio of each person's gear / total cost? Presumably we will be able to ascertain what the cost of shipping from China to Brisbane will be???

Chance is yet to determine the shipping cost from China to AUS. Lets assume the gear costs the same to one destination in AUS. Then we can arrange for local pickup or registered post. The only fair way is proportional charges. The figures seem to be roughly 18% with the GST and Duty added. This means if everyone paid an additional 18% on top of their order it would fairly distribute the load. Local registered postage is quite cheap.

Thanks Peter. For a parcel of approx. 18 kgs (which mine may come in at), Aus Post Registered from Syd>Bris will be around $27.40. Add that to 18% of purchase cost = $92.74 total. That beats $178US by a fair margin.

BTW people, if you haven't paid for your gear yet, today may be a good day : AUD/USD = 0.9478 at 3pm.

[not for the benefit of ausrock, qiktune, tunetown etc] Chances prices have the shipping to the USA, us import charges etc built in.

The savings we are talking about would be the USA > AUS shipping. We would then have to pay an Australian import duty and GST as the amount would probably be 50k+ . That duty as % of what you buy appears to be cheaper than the shipping you would pay from the USA. I'm under the assumption we would not be paying shipping from China to Australia, as there is shipping to the USA already built in to the prices. If we don't ask chance to recalculate (so he can still have the one price), but ask him to request an amount of mics be sent to australia I think we still save a lot of money.

I'm basing this on the figures posted, so if they change then this would obviously factor in.

WOOOHOOO!!!!

No real reason to post this except I'm excited :D

Day off work tomorrow ( which is rare ) and off to visit Love Hz for the day. MC is always kind enough to let me sit in and ask questions ad nauseum while he works :o ....he's got a good 'eart 'as our Michael 'e does. ;)

So, are we any closer to finding out if we are shipping from China to Oz or not?
I'll hold payment until I hear otherwise..
Tim..

Just waiting for Chance to talk to the manufacturer.

I'm up for:
2 ACM -1200
2 ACM-3
2 ACM-310
2 ACM-4
this keeps the cost under $1k

Greg, How will you be dealing with the import duty issue?

Also i haven't followed the PSW thread where the name changed from ACM to TNC. Anyoue know the details for curiosity sake?
Thanks

TNC is the company name (I'm guessing it's an acronym for "Terry n' Chance"). ACM is the mic range prefix ("Another Cheap Microphone"), while ACMP is the mic pre range prefix (you guessed it).
