On the comeback! I need your help!

I am a emcee/musician who is on the comeback trail to rebuild his set up. I want to start over in a few areas. So I trimmed down and this is what I am currently working with as of now:


ASR-10
Dbx compressor
AKG C414
3 guitars (electric, acoustic, bass)
PODXT
-I have no DAW, no audio interface, no monitors, no mixer( not sure if I need one at this point)

These items used to be apart of my set up for years.

Korg Trinity
MPC 2000
Fire pod
Resolv monitors
Roland VS880ex

( Please remember I sold them because I want a fresh start. I've had the same core set up for almost 10yrs)

My style of music is rock/alt/hip hop
Think of Jack White and SRV over Dr Dre’s drums and production

I just got my guitar upgraded. Had a set of Texas special pick ups put in them with a new set up entirely. So it should be a beast when I get it back.
Mac Book pro- 2.4ghz, 200gb( works like a dream, I don’t even see a need to get a tower. I’m a graphic designer by day, and this baby works just as well as the tower at work.)

Got my eyes on purchasing the Fantom G8.
I’ll need a preamp, maybe a new compressor, monitors, audio interface. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

BTW I’m looking for a drummer in the NYC area to do some heavy collaborations with. If you know of anyone who’s interested please let me know. I prefer the drummer to be a female. Thanks!

What sort of collaberation are you looking for?


As far as preamps goes, check online stores like Zzounds and Musician's Friend. They rate and review their stuff. Since we have no idea what kind of budget you are looking at, I can't point you at anything. More money means better stuff usually, so start by looking in the places I recommended. You'll find what you need.

I do apologize for that one guys! I should have been more specific. I have a 10k to 15k budget. The project I am working on is a hip hop/rock album and I'm looking for the right drummer to compliment my sound. Thanks.

craigslist all the way, I've had really good luck and finding anyone I asked for as well as some pleasant surprises, also work, friends, etc.

If you can locate Paul Humphries, who used to play with the Welk band, he is great.

We were in the Navy together and did gigs within the party-structure of the Military. Could not do local gigs -- union rules.

Don't know where Paul is these days but would sure like to know if anybody out there knows his location.
