Geezus.......I haven't touched trig for about 40 yrs:eek:...........out of idle curiousity, what is the answer to sin/cos and or cos/sin? Also, while I understand what you're trying to establish, in real terms, how applicable is it when recording?

Not very. Mainly just establishing at a 45 degree angle what the difference in time would be for a sound getting to the second ribbon. Based on that distance delay and the speed of sound, you can calculate which frequencies will be cancelled out by the second ribbon.

That's literally all this is about. :D

Oh, and for any value x, tan(x) = sin(x) / cos(x). cos x / sin x is... well, 1/tan x... not that this is all that interesting unless I'm forgetting something cool. Actually, I'd forgotten the whole sin/cos thing until you mentioned it. I haven't found that bit nearly as useful in real-world math as it is in math classes. :)

can we get back to whats important?

i love the looks of the ACM-300... ;)

i'm sure i'll find someplace it sounds nice, besides i already have a dual ribbon :p

yrdbrd - which dual ribbon do you have and what do you use it on? Do you like it? Thx.

bp

(back on track!!!)

i have an ACM-4 clone... :p
thinkin of getting the ACM-4 to com-pair the two

i love the one i have (apex 215) ... i've used it on many things from vox to drum overhead to jet airplanes, believe it or not. (the blue angels did an air show near here & my son thought it would be cool to record them passing over our neibourhood, & he was right...)

Peace,
Ron

Oh, yeah, that. Right. I figured it had a name, but heck if I remembered it after fifteen years. Not much practical use. :)
For me, it's been 47 years. Long term memory is intact in dementia.
