Blockfish, SIR, Classic Compressor are good free plugins.
I freaking love Blockfish on drums.
Interesting. I just downloaded it to try. Thanks.I use GSnap (free VST autotuner) on vocals. Gets slightly better with each new release.
I have a collection of free VST effects, many of them quite good. Glaceverb is good, too bad I rarely use reverb. Classic Compressor and Classic Delay (forgot who made them) are also good. I'm sure once I use 'pro' effects my mind will change, but from what I hear, they are good.
Much better than the shit that Cubase LE came with.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bootsy's plugins yet.
Yeah...did you bother looking a literal 3 inches above your post?
EDIT: This thread was from 2008, so bootsy wasn't as well known back then.
I am late to this post but i'm going to say it anyway. The best plugins are the plugins that get you what you want from them. If you are getting the desired sounds from your current compressors, should you then spend loads of money upgrading to a selections of waves plugins? it doesn't make sense unless you want to list all the things your studio has to offer then names people know are always better.
