I want to record keyboards into my pc.

My pc has a basic soundcard that came with it and I have a Roland GW 7 & Juno D.

Is it worth buying a new/better soundcard?

If so which one?

Depends upon what you're trying to do. For casual recording, your cheapo soundcard will do ok. If you want to do something semi-pro or better, you'll want to upgrade to something better. A nice and relatively cheap upgrade would be an external interface like theTascam US122 or something similar.

The Delta 144 is also a player...it's a little simpler than the Tascam.

have you tried recording with your current soundcard? if you have did you like the way it sounded? if it sounded bad then yes, it probobly would be worth it to upgrade.

MIDI does not actually contain audio data. It is simply instructions to a synthesizer, like "now play a middle C at volume 98 for 2 seconds" - its like sheet music for a computer.

In addition to the noise you're picking up, you may also be stuck recording in mono.

I also recommend Tweakheadz' for learning about audio interfaces (i.e., nice sound cards) before shelling out cash:
