I'M BLESSED.......
I have seen posts in the past about this program. I believe Mindset has it.

But anyway, my Son goes to Berklee College of Music and he got his hands on a Mercury Waves Program. (I didn't ask any questions........:o)
But that program is FULL of plugins, most of which I never heard before. Anyone have any opinions on it? How's the learning curve? Seems pretty steep!

BTW, just ordered my Reason 4 upgrade...............:D:D:D

Waves is tight...not too much of a learning curve IMO. Just don't be intimidated by all the functions with each one. If you can get good with Reason and don't just settle for preset ish, Waves is about the same. I have a gang of plugins...I may have the Mercury bundle around the studio somewhere (don't flame me, but I'm sure it came from the broham network).

There are other plugins that are good too. I don't tend to stick with one specific one...I just go for whatever feels right to me and gives me what I want. Most of them been out for a while...I'll list the ones I have that I like a lot

Waves Platinum (or Diamond) Mercury has both of these in it
The Anwidasoft package (small but powerful IMO)
The AKAI plugin package (the vocoder is NICE and simple)
the fish fillets pack (it's freeware but goodware)
some of the Steinberg plugins (some are good, some need a little work)
TC Native Pack (I like the whole suite there...can't go wrong and it's made easy to use)
Antares Microphone Modeler (this one is a GEM...especially if you don't have high quality mics) and they have newer vocal plugins that are pretty tight too (outside of AutoTune)
....I could go on but these are the ones that hit my mind at first moment, in no specific order.

I was afraid I wasn't going to get any response!

Thanks for that Fiev.........

I'm rekindling my relationship with Reason rewiring it with Sonar. I love the combo.......

I never quite got into the whole rewire phase...I can see its benefits, but I usually have my beat made and ready to record on when I go into Cubase. I may have to be game to try that though.

Mercury plugins are great! I like the new reverb for certain stuff. That reverb eats up alot of cpu tho, even in low cpu mode. Maybe its just because i need more ram tho. I'm at 756mb. Wanna upgrade to 2 gigs or just get a new computer. Was gonna do that with tax money but, spent all that on my wheels.

I see your Prez signed that stimulus package today, so you should be borrowing some of your own money in a few months...:D:D:D:D:D

it'd be nice if I could throw 2 gigs in the laptop....but even if I did I think I'd want to try to get a faster processor too...eh...may as well just stick with the PC for that.

Mercury is like the god of plugins.... it's massive!! There's so many you couldn't possibly ever use them all. The only thing i don't like about the waves products is that there's not that much training available. I have found a few books that are focused on learning from reading... but nothing in the form of videos or tutorials. What i have found is that other companies offer training on a type of plugin and if you know how to use a type then you can carry that knowledge over into waves products, but for the total newbie... it's not easy.

I learned by experimenting....much like I did with Reason.

Solely because I never trust the presets on anything. That's a punk's way out and it lacks creativity.

I learned reason from this website: http://www.grooveboxmusic.com/store/home.php?

I paid like 9 bucks a month. It took me about 3 months to go through all the videos and practice the material. This was the best training i have come across period. I have also done the pro-tools training they offer. I would love to find something like this on waves products. Something that you can go over until your comfortable with the material taught.

Yeah it is alot of plugins, most of which I won't use...........I almost thought it was a bad disc because once it loaded, I couldn't find them. So I had to re-install Sonar and then re-install Mercury, once I did that, they all loaded into Sonar.
To go through them all to see what and how it does whatever is alot. So all I can do is read, read, read and experiment on my own!

I figured everyone would hear when they're getting something!

Huh? I think i'm slow or somethin. I didn't get the joke. lol!:D

It's not a joke dude!

You mean you haven't been watching the news, let alone the economy?

Bush signed a bill last week to give MOST of us back some money......

I said "borrowing our own money", because that is what it boils down to. It all comes from taxes we have paid anyway!

Funnel the economy by forcing the federal taxes to be recycled....unless you're Wesley Snipes.
